Portable cut off saw

Hi everyone I have a Makita cutoff saw 355mm abrasive.
I've been very happy to have discovered one of those , bought it, restored etc.
Today I've took it with me for a side job but I'm now extremely disappointed.
First of all 355x30mm disc are impossible to find in my location.
I've had to make an adapter for 25.4mm disc and ok.
I've cut all the box tubing no problems.
Time to cut the angle iron now the big struggle.
45° cuts, the vertical side has been cut no problems but the side lying on flat not.
The workpiece became Red hot and even stalled the saw
It wasn't anything extremely hard to cut.
Just 40x40x4mm angle iron.
I've finished to cut it using my cordless Makita knock off angle grinder no problems.
But eventually batteries died and had to stop working because I didn't take a corded grinder with me as it was supposed to just remove burrs and nothing more.
Now I have a big 250mm cold saw but it's stationary and I have to restore it prior to be able to use it.
Impossible until I get my workshop built.
Is there anything I can do to improve this saw just to keep up working with it till I get the other one running?
I don't know maybe a particular cutting wheel?
My only need for the cutoff is cut straight at an angle without having to stay there and trace every single cut.
Because at this point I keep using a grinder as I've always done since I've started to play with metal.
Useless to say that it's extremely time consuming and not even accurate

I've just thought about the vice on my cutoff.
It can be mounted in two positions
I can move it to far rear position to try to make the disc contact on the hedge of angle iron.
Essentially move the cut towards the rear of the blade offset from the center of rotation of the wheel.
But I'm afraid this would not allow me the cut at perfectly 45° angle.
I might have to cut every single piece twice.
90° first and 45° lastly to cut a triangle off

Sounds like blade is rubbing and not cutting, but with an abraisive saw?!?

Yes exactly what happened, once it reaches the side lying on flat it starts rubbing clogging the wheel, overheating the workpiece and stops to make progress on the cut.
Unfortunately I have no pictures right now and I can't do any new attempts till Monday when I'll get the material home as we decided to continue the job at home.

sold my abrasive saws and bought this.....
oh so much better.....NEVER a problem with hot chips....whatever anyone else says.....
this saw is 307 euros here in Crete....spare blade around 70euro....
just needs the vice to be made stronger for 45* cuts ....but no worse than other saws...

I did the same & got one of these 2nd hand. The only problem is the blades don't last & I think they're expensive. If I were doing it again I'd look for one of the smaller versions, an 8" maybe, perfectly capable of 40x40 but way cheaper on the consumables.
Also, if you're finding it hard to source the right abrasive discs locally there may be the same problem with the Evo blades.
I've refurbed a band saw (thank you @julianthegypsy) & use that for most cutting in the workshop - cheaper blades, less mess - lovely

I've taken Evo Saws in consideration but I can't justify the cost for the use it will see in my hands because I'll don't use it that much.
I have a stationary cold saw that once restored will do everything I need.
I need just a quick solution to finish the job, because this old Makita works great on boxes and rounds.
It just doesn't like to cut on flat.
And it's enough accurate too 0.2mm vertically either because of wheel vibrations or material expansion do to the heat.

Misunderstanding
My cold saw uses an HSS disc, but it's far from being in working conditions I have to replace the blade which is broken and most likely the motor.
It's not in that bad shape overall as the gear drive and bearings are perfect.
I'm currently using a 1980's Makita 2414 abrasive cut off saw.
But I'm struggling to get it cutting through the flat side sitting horizontally because the wheel is rubbing instead of cutting.
It takes 30mm hole 355mm wheels but they are apparently impossible to get in my location.
I'd need a new spacer washer

i had the same problem but using 1.6mm or 3mm discs helped in cutting them

I think I'm using 3.5mm wheels but I have to check I'm not sure.
