Today I acquired...........

It was back in May, but I found a Hypertherm Powermax 1650 about 70 miles away. $600.

Brought it home (was un-tested, took a risk on it) wired it up to the RPC and got some red warning lights....
took the torch consumables out, and worked for about an hour to get things better (no lights). Hand torch
is pretty toasted, trigger is boogered up, o-rings gone, etc.

I have a Max100 plasma, it's on the CNC table presently and cuts 1/2" plate (pretty much max for it).

This 1650 is an inverter at 100 amps.....whoo boy ! Pull trigger, and 1" plate is melting off like hot butter....Need to get a machine torch for it.

Ullman are better still. My cousin almost exclusively uses Snap On (Including that pick set), but I noticed the other week he's pinched my Ullman set.

I have these ones, perfect for my use.
Don't have any Snap on tools, would love to have a garage full of them buy can't justify the price for DIY use. Tempted to buy one of their 1/2" ratchets though but would have to keep it safe in the bedroom

Found a petrol chainsaw on FB for £15 "Its ran fine last year won't start this year". It was nearby so I went and got it coz I need a petrol one to compliment my electric one.

It's always the same problem with these small engines. Rotted fuel line. I bought a pack of 6 when I got my long reach strimmer which wouldn't start.

As suspected - fuel line split.



2 hours later and I have one very health cheap chainsaw with a new Oregon bar and chain fitted too

Rewired the mains cable.

Borrowed a lead from my old buzz box (which is much thinner than the earth lead on this "new" welder).

First test. Selected 100A and gave it a quick go. Works ok but I'll obviously try other settings when I get a chance.

A watertank, not sure what I will do with it yet, no need to store water..
A bit bigger then I expected, maybe I will cut it up to be a roof for my trailer.

It's also not the right one, given it was described as a "Landrover series steering drop arm spline puller"...

and this is it not coming close to fitting a steering drop arm on a series Landrover.

I apparently bought the last one from the place I ordered mine, but this is the equivalent from a different supplier for a few more quid:

Adding bio fuel to petrol has caused no end of fuel lines seals & gaskets not made for the latest biomix to degrade leak or split, same with oil fired central heating pipe work & pumps .

We all like a bit of shiny stuff, billet flywheel for project Carlton, the origional dual mass effort is well past its best at 380,000 and nothing new is available
I know its a long way off needing it but hey we all need a mojo boost now and then!

Will it not be noisy and harsh without the oem sprung flywheel?
Thought about fitting a solid flywheel to my Td5 Discovery but all the contemporary advice warned against doing so due to vibration and driveline shunt.

That’s a cracking welder,I got one off @mtt.tr 4 years ago ,burns 2.5mm rods off an 80’ lead easily,3.2mm requires short cable.
