Yet to receive but a job lot of "working when removed" 8k2 safety edge transmitters and a couple of other Bircher bits that are tba:

I still don't under stand the need for these nuts . . . press locking pin in, rotate until shaft locked, undo disc thus undoing the nut . . . replace disc, replace nut, tweek the disc a touch to tighten, carry on using. Very very rarely do I need to use the pin spanner - probably when I've run the disc right down - and then it's that tight, I'd need to stick something through the quick release nut to get enough leverage anyway.

With the proviso I am a DIY user, or a very limited work user, so not exactly going through dozens of discs a day.

Search the bench. Search under the bench. Cuss some more. Check the shed. Nope.. Remember your 'mate' borrowed it, and probably didn't return it like he said he would. Get out the waterpump pliers. Cuss some more. Slip of the nut, cuss again. In desparation stop for a cup of tea. Check the drawer below the one it should be in - there's the spanner - wrong friggin darwer....undo disc thus undoing the nut .

Years ago I saw some fabricators using all manner or cutting discs & sized machined .
They all unplugged the power , put a thick glove on , popped the locking pin and used the gloved hand to unscrew the worn or damaged disc , I asked about the discs slipping as they used the reverse process to tighten them up . They said that they never loosened off if nipped up by a gloved hand hand pulling on the disc blade itself .
I've been doing the same for the last 12 years or more using around 50 slitting discs pa ........ till I got my Parkside plasma cutter .

I've got one somewhere in the garage, which is precisely why it's somewhere in the lost section, just haven't used it in years, needs throwing in the bin when located.....

One of those situations, there's the spanner , now? where's the grinder or t'other way round.....

Got my dad's 4" Black and Decker from the early 80's - and some discs still! But as to the shaft spanner . . . no idea.

I have a selection of unused, and very rarely used, pin spanners hanging on a hook by the window . . . I think they get more use winding brake pistons back in, or undoing the grease reservoir cap on my SDS drill.

Happy day! I just acquired a couple dozen of Ordnance Survey Maps, and others at the local recycling shed. Many cover places I'd be interested taking a bike tour through.

I must admit I prefer a paper map to look for interesting routes / places local to where I am.

The dam thing froze up and I had to cut it off with another disc grinder to replace the blade.

You do realise you can undo them with a standard angle grinder pin spanner too?

Now that looks very useful.

I generally just hand tighten and tweak...but sometimes they get too tight and I can never find the spanner!

Step one: Obtain suitable box for grinder and accessories.
Step two: Place grinder and accessories in said box.
Step three: Take box to job.
Step four: Do job.

And here's that one weird trick that the sellers of auto nuts hate:

Step five: Place grinder and accessories back in the box when the job is finished or paused for a significant amount of time.

I had the lock break on one of my grinders so ground an old open ended spanner down until it would fit behind the disc and hold the flats on the shaft.
