Those pelican catches look like they might well do the job and be small enough
They might not have a lot of adjustability. If you are putting them through a chain link, you can only change the length by 1 link at a time. What happens if the ideal tension is 37 1/2 links?
Maybe the thing to do is set them up first and then fabricate the other two normally non-adjustable ones at the front to suit.
Hope that makes sense: when building it, tie the grill down in the opposite order to what you would normally do.
Alternatively, fix the eyes onto the grill to suit the best chain lengths rather than fit the eyes and then try to make chains to suit.
