Got to admit, I don't get the need. The unified stuff is visible to the naked, well, spectacle clad eye. Metric, similar - may be a steel rule helps.
Its the weird threads that need thread gauges, not the common stuff.

Quite literally yes, although also not any more.
In a nutshell as far as I understand when Irwin bought Vise grips and shipped everything abroad, a company called Malco took over the old plant and started making locking pliers, touted to be some of the best in the world.
However they were also eye wateringly expensive, poorly marketed and suffered some supply issues and Malco dropped them a couple of years ago.
Since then there has been rumours that snap-on (who they supplied) may or may not have taken them over and restarted production, but I've not seen anything definitive. In any case there is unlikely to be any more made under the Malco EagleGrip brand.

I've heard that Milwaukee vise grips are decent. Never tried them though.

They are good and unfortunately I had to use some today. Locked on with little effort and the teeth bit right into the nut and never slipped as I turned it. The Irwins were given away after I bought these.

I've not seen any numbers indicating the quantity.
But knowing 3M and comparing the most common brands.
Let's say the single one would cost around 1200 euros? Surely more than 700

No it's a tool protection dip for protecting the cutting edges of milling cuters etc.

Its a rabbit hole, make my own mince now too. Also good for making meatballs in bulk. Something really nice about knowing exactly whats in your food. Butchers sundries is a great place to get anything you could possibly need meat related. Link hereWanted one of these for years, a meat grinder/sausage stuffer.
