I've got one, different model as clamp also but covers all of the above also. Costs a bit more.
Frankly I like it, some people say it's tricky to navigate but I've never had a problem with it

The display to the teutonic fluke users would initially look like a bad acid trip in soho but it's actually ok to work with - I don't do site work just diy so can't vouch for bouncing it around.

They are small, tiny in fact compared compared to a few older hand helds I have - bare that in mind as the screen is busy and not that big, but with eyes the size of gollum you should be good.

I am an auto electrician by trade.

I need a lot of things out of multimeter - Hz - duty cycle percentage - capacitance in Fd - and amps to 10A for battery drain problems.

What I don't really need is a great deal of accuracy from a multimeter.

Finding myself using a Megger (insulation tester) more and more of late. Plus little hand held scope things from China.

One of the things that irritate me with many similar devices, is the auto ranging. I may be old fashioned, but I like to set a reading mode according to what I am expecting, rather than it trying to work out what I am looking for itself. It took me some while to find a bench meter like that, but so much more useful.

Clearly there are uses for auto ranging, but I have yet to discover one.

well I did used to have a PC based oscilloscope that ran on windows XP and it was the only thing I had on the laptop as I couldnt get the drivers to work on a later version of windows and when that laptop died, I decided I needed to get one of the handheld ones. I was looking to spend over £100 on one and there are much better ones for that money, but I only use it once in a blue moon and only need it for very basic things. here is an online review

I was planing on taking it to our model engineers meetings to give 5 minute talk on them and planned to show how they can be used with radio control to show the waveforms that operate the servos (50hz square wave with 5 to 10% duty cycle) and speed controllers). then thinking about it further I thought why not build a handheld unit with a oscillocope only (FNIRSI 138 Pro for less than £20) to show how the electrical signals change

to show the electrical signals that work in radio controlled models using a cheap oscilloscope.

A) I can show the analog signal (voltage) across a variable resistor.

B) I can then feed that into a servo tester, which converts it to a 50 Hz pulse width modulation signal with a 5% to 10% duty cycle (which is the standard type of signal that a radio control receiver sends to the servo or speed controller to actuate them.

C) I can then use that to operate a servo and also supply an electromagnetic servo driver (as I havnt got a speed controller with a low enough switching frequency for the pulse width modulation). and I can show the modified signal. I can then feed that into a H drive motor drive module to operate a DC brushed motor.

D) I can then show the negative voltage spike when the switching occurs, and shows the voltage generated by the motor just after the motor has been switched off at part power

just waiting or a box to be delivered so I can shove it all in.

Clearly there are uses for auto ranging, but I have yet to discover one.

with your name on here, I would hope that you have a good knowledge of electronics, for someone who uses an oscilloscope once or twice a year it can put then in the rough area of what they are looking for.
