Have you got vagcom? If so you’re wasting your time just putting a sensor straight on it. Mine wasn’t the sensor and if it’s doing similar you’re going to need to take the wheel back off to change the hub.

That error code is the same as the one on my sons Tiguan…turned out it was the abs ring…

Mrs left her keys at home (she dropped car at workshop last night) so i can't work on it today, but i will pull the hub first thing tomorrow

Gonna buy a sensor today then take a look at the hub. The sensor is only £45 for a pattern part which should tell me straight away whether it's the sensor or the ring

As said by me before here do not buy aftermarket ABS sensors. Waste of time trust me, flaky at best or won't work at all. Avoid at all costs. Genuine parts only. (If and when you determine it to be faulty)

You may be able to get behind the hub tomorrow to look at the abs ring. Without taking the hub off. I managed to take just the wheel off and clean my abs ring up enough to know it needed replacing. Saves faffing about.

TPS, the trade parts supplier arm of VAG, usually has branches up and down the country, best place for oem sensors.
I see you’re in Essex, there’s a branch, 66, Horndon Industrial Park, Station Rd, West Horndon, Brentwood maybe near you?

Hub bearing assembly from Eurocarparts, the Tiguan was £168….

New bolts are needed,come with kit…

You can take the sensor out and look at it…usually if the bearing wears sufficient to cause runout it will wipe the end of the sensor…if it’s intact then the likelihood is the abs magnetic ring, on the Tiguan, the ring had split…usual cause of abs issues.

We used to have a lot of issues on BMW's with rust under the stainless steel reluctor ring, lifting it from the drive shaft and causing it to rub on the face of the sensor, we used to fit a new aftermarket ring to the de rusted drive shaft, sometimes if they were very rusty we had to tiger seal them on, A sensor would usually cause a static ABS fault where the fault was there from turning the ignition on, a rusty ring would tend to cause a fault that came in at 10-20-30 mph depending on how rusty your ring was..........

Are you saying you don't understand what an aftermarket part is? Such as the Pagid ABS sensor you mentioned?

I just done a 2009 1 series bmw in th workshop this week - same fault as above.

This put traction control light on at 20mph. No static ABS codes recorded - no ABS light on.

Reluctor ring swelled in one spot - eating into face of ABS sensor. Fitted new shaft (pattern) and new sensor (pattern).

I fit allot of pattern ABS sensors. Have very few problems with them to be honest.

Motion sensors - it is hard to get it wrong.

It is O2 sensors and NOX sensors - that I won't fit pattern parts at all.

We are the same with our trucks at work. I never order non genuine nox or O2 sensors. Very expensive.

NOX sensor from the dealership is a painfull day out.

But I can't get even Bosch or Continental ones to work - even a 50% of the price - these are an expensive waste of money.

Put one in a i800 Hyundai the other week - NOX sensor was £980 +VAT from dealership @trade.

The temp sensors are £300odd as well. I’m sure thats the offer price as well.

Some of these cars have two NOX sensors on the same bank.

No, i'm saying that I can't see pattern ABS sensors playing up/being defective, as no motor factors would stock them otherwise.

If you ran a business, and tradesmen kept bringing back parts, saying this is playing up not working properly, you'd stop selling them wouldn't you.

Yet there's three different brand options available from the likes of GSF, Bennetts and Euro Car Parts.

My Scania has that I’m sure. I also think it has upstream and downstream temp sensors as well. It eats them for fun.
