Brake pads

I need some new pads for the front of my Grand Vitara, I don't need high performance as I just bimble along and tend to brake early & gently

I've used Pagid discs before, but not their pads, do I go for them or Brembo or save a few bob and use Bosch?

Id probably use the Bosch in that not that I would expect Bosch to be anything special these days though

just fitted full sets of them disks and pads to my pug van and wifeys car there ok

Euro weren't allowed to supply Eicher to my previous employer, unless as a last resort.
They are ultimately a budget brand, on a similar level to Drivetec.

Brembo/Bosch are fairly average.
People buy Brembo thinking they're getting something special as Brembo do good brakes. Brembo do do good brakes, but their aftermarket pads are just average.
Bosch again are reasonably good aftermarket.

I'm fairly sure Pagid are a ECP brand now, as ECP mostly push them, with retail prices at the 'premium' end, however I wouldn't say that they're anything special.

Personally out those options, I'd just get the Bosch, unless you really want to go budget.

not that i do much with car mechanics {unless i have to} but id say bosch id ecpect the higher 2 prices have the extras with them springs anti squeek stick ons and possably low brake pad sencers on them


i had to do mine the otherday thank who ever is looking down or wat ever etc there was only one option how rare is that


more to the point is would we be choose the bosch because of the name ? or its because its middle range ?

Quinton Hazell or Mintex would probably be decent enough for the money. To be honest I doubt there’s much difference in performance between any of the mainstream brands if you’re driving sensibly.

had to change disks and pads on wifes peugeot car . the disks from new has only done 8 thousand miles and there worn to hell the pads came off like new and they are genuine pug so pads were a lot harder than the cast disks

Bu66er, Mrs Robo needs some new discs, I was going to get Padgid as I bought some a few years ago for my car and they've been fine, more research needed now.

The original pads did 60k miles and the original disc's did 120k miles on my van. The cheapest replacement pads did 60k miles and the cheapest disc's are still on at 158k miles.

I do tend to use the gearbox to slow down so iam quite easy on the brakes

This is coz the Asbestos has been replaced by Graphite in the pads now a days, it's cheap so some companies put more in which just wears the disc's out faster.

I would pick bosch from your choice. unless pennies are tight.
As said above, pay a premium for the brembo name, will just be ordinary standard aftermarket pads.
