I understand the lots of tools and stuff part. but the detailed description of what it is used for, isnt it obvious, unless they dont have a clue where as they must off seen this before in private properties. well i would of thought as i am defo not special and i know chaps on here with better and bigger sheds than this.

All i should need to do is say `no its private use` like they asked about my stepson wo is living here temp for a few months.

I am not the best at typing so I think what did it was in the end was the way this is sentenced I jsut think scammer straight away if that is meant to be from somebody in office work lol.

Please can you give me a full explanation of the tools that you have in your outbuilding

• Is there a business run there
• You have a very well stocked tool supply outside what he considers DIY
• What is you plans with the Tools now and in the future

lets face it most of us on here are not normal when it comes to the amount of tools we have and i dont considder what i have is a lot but i know a few trades people that have quite a lot less tools than i have to be honest i dont know any one personly that has the amount of tools that i do but mine fails in comparsion to what people on here have


as its said on here before its just backside covering make your statment say its hobbie stuff and take the deal and fill some of that floor space with a few more tools

I suspect it's just a formality... They have to ask and you simply have to confirm it's for a hobby. You just need to make a statement to that effect....or ask them what wording they need from you.

lets face it most of us on here are not normal when it comes to the amount of tools we have and i dont considder what i have is a lot but i know a few trades people that have quite a lot less tools than i have to be honest i dont know any one personly that has the amount of tools that i do but mine fails in comparsion to what people on here have

i dont mind a couple of hours watching a netflix program (cant remember the last time we watched normaly tv cant do with the 13 mins of ads every half hour) after a 10 hour day and then sorting tea before going to bed so i can get up the next day and do the same

A lot depends on peoples background - and the folk on here do not have a normal background (no offence meant!)

I'm busy putting a new kitchen in and my neighbor came around for a chat as he heard drilling, he saw my SDS breaker drill with a 10mm masonry bit in that I was using to fit rawlplugs for wall cabinets. "That's a big drill".
I just ignored it, I didn't like to point out the 1m long 10-20mm set of bits he hadn't noticed.

Can't guess what he'd think if he saw what I have in the workshop, it's similar to yours but slightly less organised and without the lathe and vertical drill

For the mortgage I expect it's a box ticking formality, just confirm it's hobby use only

If yes, maybe they reacted that way because of that.
The tools etc look normal to me; mine are spread between shed and garage so slightly better hidden.

When I had a big home insurance claim my insurer asked me whether a business was run from home...so seems they also ask.

Yes it was a conservatory then I 'rebuilt ' it into my shed.

I understand the email.from.me saying it not commercial use. But tthr need to go into details. As in what iit is and what I do with it and what I plan to do with the gear now and in the future etc etc is a bit

I think all they are looking for is a simple confirmation (email) that you don't run a business from home...and you don't intend running a business from home in the future.

You can (optionally) add that you do practical hobbies and enjoy building/fixing things for your own enjoyment.

The "future use" question regarding the tools in my mind is to stop the loophole of starting a business the day after you've declared you don't have one.
