A smoke test is the only real way forward, doesn't / shouldn't take long or expensive to do. There's an assumption 'It'll be a manifold' where it's entirely possible it could be a charge air hose, intercooler frozen & subsequently split (seen that a few times in winter). Spend a few quid to save a few more, find somewhere that will diagnose, not make assumptions, so there is only one repair to do.
