Wellies buying.....

I've still got the wellies I was given when I worked on the Council gardens 50 years ago, they'll never wear out because they cripple my back so I only wear them as a last resort for jobs like snow clearing.

There is an awful lot of choice these days, set your budget and then see whats about, personally I wouldnt buy the "muck boots" brand unless they were cheap!

I would also say go for a size up so you can fit thick full length socks on, the sort you can fold back over the top of the boot when on , these make for warm comfortable feet with the benefit its easy to keep the boots clean inside by regular washing of the socks.

My previous life was spent mostly in wellies. The green Dunlop types aren’t what they used to be - something’s happened to the rubber compounds and they split prematurely.

Muck Boot Derwent II are much warmer and last well.

I think they’re sized larger anyway to accommodate thicker socks, so go with your normal shoe size.

I wear Dunlop Purofort Field Pro Safety. Very light, comfortable and very durable. The bit I like is they grip around the axle which makes them nice to walk in, that doesn't suit everyone though. I use them all year and put them on every day at some point even in the summer

Just be aware there are Purofort Pro Safety(they feel a bit clunky)which I'm not a fan of, standard Purofort Safety are nice to wear but the Field Pro are great, they cost about £40-50. I'm only on my 3rd pair in 20 years. First two pairs were Purofort Safety

I must admit I'm not the biggest fan of the neoprene ones, I do have some Muck Boot Arctic Sport and they are super warm but that means I rarely wear them.

Muckboots

Not sure which ones I have but they’ve big chunky treads. Warm even in cold weather and I think mine must be 6 or more years old and still good and keep water out.

Dunlop acifort wellies you can't go wrong. Inexpensive,hard wearing, excellent grip and comfortable, more so with an insole. Oh and steel toes. Highly recommended. Cost around 30ish quid.

I use a model or two up from them. The thermo ones. However I can be in them all day some days and most days walk 3 or 4 miles in them.

Dunlop Purofort Thermo Plus Full Safety Boot. I've had a pair for about 5 or so years. Very warm and comfy, light enough for walking the dog.

The only problem is the insulated sole adds about an inch of so of height. Which means I then scalp my bonce on the low door jamb in the living room. When I then start cursing and holding my bonce while imitating a John Cleese style crouched silly walk the missus says it serves me right for wearing boots in the house......

Thats the ones I use.
I call them 4x4 for feet.

Aye i dont think you can go far wrong with these boots. Totally unconnected. Thats some firewood operation you've got going there. Very impressive, pity you weren't closer i'd give you a call.
