As an aside, the muscle is called the biceps. There is no such thing as a bicep.

The covid vaccine is delivered square in the middle of the deltoid, not the biceps, and if there were a needle fragment or local scarring/neuroma formation you should be able to elicit the pain by prodding the area.

Random stabbing pains in that region could be related to a nerve or vessel disorder, referred pain from the chest area, or even something central like a spinal problem. Next step would be to get it checked.

Funnily enough I had a conversation with a patient about angle grinders yesterday. Mainly about the fact he should have fitted the guard on his angle grinder which would have saved the whole ambulance trip, hospital assessment and transfer to plastics to repair the massive hole in - funnily enough - his bicep.

What do you have to be doing to angle grind your own bicep
Mind you, I did angle grind my @rse once by sitting down on it, disc facing upwards and activated the switch. Doesn't half make you get up in a hurry!

Yep, it's not A&E anymore, there's now MIU - Minor Injuries Unit and ED - Emergency Dept

There's also SDEC - Same Day Emergency Care

There was a big information campaign in our area around where people should go depending on the nature of the injury or symptoms

I had my flu jab a couple of months ago and now I get a lot of pain in my left shoulder/biceps ...if I lie on it in bed it wakes me up in agony. I thought the needle may have snapped cos I have never suffered before and I've had a lot of jabs over the years!!
I'm due to see the nurse in a couple of weeks so will ask her opinion ...the actual jab was very painful so not sure if she was a beginner!!

I have, on occasion I think had something similar in my Covid jab arm. Comes from nowhere, is fleeting but hurts like hell. Tbh too much has gone on since to recall. The heart palpitations I had after were much more concerning.

The worse one I get is something on/in my head. Like a thousand tiny needles in a patch that varies as to where. It comes on like an axe in the head (I'm guessing ) then goes instantly. Really makes me wince. My scalp feels tender to the touch thereafter but not agony. I did think something shingles like.

I had much the same a decade or so ago, for a year or more. It started as a pain in my back, just under my left shoulder blade, but then it seemed to move around to the left biceps, a nagging pain deep inside, that no sort of massage and manipulation could alter.

A visit to the GP got the predictably useless " I can give you pain killers or an injection", and nigh even a cursory examination of the arm/shoulder.

I got into google, and soon found that the most common cause of neck shoulder or biceps pain was incorrect posture in front of a computer. I did indeed slouch, leaning forward to peer into the monitor, both at home and work, for hours a day.

So, I sat up, raised my monitor, kept my head upright......and the pain had gone within 48 hours.

Apparently, the weight of your head, leaning forward, can squash the nerves that come out between the vertebrae, giving the impression there is pain in some remote place, where there is none.

Friend of mine has waited 14 months to get to see the pain management department, for his back pains. Couple of weeks ago he got two NHS letters delivered, together.

One was booking him an appointment.
The other was cancelling that appointment.

The NHS is broken.

I've just got an appointment at our local pain management clinic....in 234 days. Because I'd moved areas, I had to go through trying physio first. Which made things worse, as I expected, and had another scan, which was surprisingly quick as apparently they now use a private charity to pick up the slack. Anyway, it showed radiculopathy, or nerve root damage, which I already know and I imagine I'll get a steroid injection, which will ease things for a few months, then start again. Oh the joy...
