Made a suitable space to get this in for some works, been off the road for 7 years due to the usual rust issues but its time has come! stand by for some weldy/bashy type action after ive finished sweeping most of the body off the floor!

Its been a long time coming! its going to be my daily again as I just want something comfortable/fast/reliable and spacious, its only done 380,000 miles so the block might need a bit of a freshen up!

Its just a shame they couldnt sell them at the time, the new ones that didnt sell went to a specialist breaker to be scrapped

Off to pick some body cuts up in the morning so hopefully there should be some useful panels, if not I can feel a lot of bashing and shaping in the future

Picked me body cuts up today, bit of a squeeze in the little Astra G! looks like a few days of picking everything apart now to get the panels/patches I need

No time like the present to get un-picking, its nice to be able to take your time and not have an MOT type rush repair job, the the bottom of the A post and footwell panel off

I had a GSI 3.0L 24v back in the early 90s - it was an incredibly bit of kit. Bet you can get one for much, much less that a Lotus!

Edit: Jeepers - maybe not! Looking at autotrader there are two Lotus Carltons on and zero other Carltons of any persuasion! Perhaps they've all rusted to death apart from the OP's? No Senators on there, either

They’re not particularly heavy either by modern standards (around 1650 kg IIRC). That results in a power to weight ratio very close to that of my MK3 Focus RS to put in perspective.

I remember it with fondness, a big comphy saloon if not exactly 'spirited'....
