Did you the big box steel frame that the measuring jig sits on as well ?
"Not suitable for gas or air" means there's something to break. It'll work exactly the same with air as it does liquid.

A very old friend of mine bought the whole kit new many many moons ago ! . He was the only body shop in the area with a full size body jig and once word spread what he could pull / push straight cars /shells came from all over , made him a lot of money indeed . If I recall there was about three double size bed crates of brackets chains swivels clamps bars and rams an impressive bit of kit indeed .Got the frame, the tray it runs in and all the goodies it came with when new, really is a nice bit of kit. I will take a few more snaps of it another day. Its even got built in pneumatic height adjusters for levelling on less than perfect concrete.

Had a bit of a run out today to visit a friend and see my mum.
Swung by a place called ‘work aid’ in Chesham. To pick up an accidental eBay purchase.
Its only a small shop but an extremely pleasant place and as well as a lot of garden tools, wood working stuff and fabric they had a few bits of engineering stuff too.
This is there website they have an eBay shop on there too. Seems like a very good cause to me.
https://workaid.org/
(Just to clarify it’s probably not worth driving hours to visit but if you find yourself nearby with a spare half hour why not pay them a visit)
So I came away with:

A mitutoyo depth mic. I’d imagine it’s missing the extendy bits for deeper depths but I probably wouldn’t know how to use them.
(Shame I couldn’t stretch to mr swains slip gauge set they had there too)
And a 3ft orca that I definitely don’t know what to do with!(the accidental eBay purchase)
Not sure who ‘rjh’ are or were?

I remember hearing about a Renault 4, not long after they came out. This one had been in a minor shunt & the panel beater had a new hydraulic chassis straightener & he decided to do a check & prove his new kit. On measuring he found the chassis damaged, wheelbase about 4 inches shorter one side to the other. Much heaving & pulling later, one written off Renault, the wheelbase is shorter one side to the other by design so the torsion bars can run across.Got the frame, the tray it runs in and all the goodies it came with when new, really is a nice bit of kit. I will take a few more snaps of it another day. Its even got built in pneumatic height adjusters for levelling on less than perfect concrete.

Put it up for sale here, someone will have a use for it.R J H made many engineering tools including straight edges but they were probably better known for their small single wheel grinders and lapping machines.
@Pete. has an rjh too if I remember correctly.
@pressbrake1 has some pictures from their catalogue showing squares, straight edges, surface plates etc.
Thanks brad, that clears that up a bit. I’d heard of their grinders, didn’t know they made other stuff too.R J H made many engineering tools including straight edges but they were probably better known for their small single wheel grinders and lapping machines.

I am familiar with the glass and its contents but not the other thingy.A rather large PC case.
Corsair Carbide Air 540
A little bigger than I expected….. pint glass for scale.

You mean the straight edge?Put it up for sale here, someone will have a use for it.
The R5 being based on the same floorpan was the same - I often wonder how modern 4 wheel alignment systems would act when working out the thrust angle with that difference.I remember hearing about a Renault 4, not long after they came out. So today I've bought one of those Einhell airtech euro 4300V ,v twin air compressor 412 litres minute.
Used for 50 Euros (an equivalent nowadays one is about 400 euros ) ,sold as not working , I've proceed inspecting the tank for thinner /rusted spots didn't found any ,then hand on my trusty FLUKE 115 , good capacitors, no shorts to ground and even the power cord is good, it only requires a new pressure switch (I have one) I'll replace and connect it to a contactor just because .
Tomorrow I'll start cleaning it up and try to get it running .
If it does I will strip the stickers because they are really beaten up and ugly...
Might put the Atlas Copco logo on it because I'd feel less poor , just joking by the way .
I really love the motor design , very Shiny alluminum housing with many wide and thin cooling fins .
Plus a really big fan .
Tomorrow I'll also shot some pictures of it once cleaned.
I've took the risk it might be garbage but the Metabo WE24-230MVT too was a risk and turned up in one of my best bargains ever made just a broken plug.
Didn't end up here also bought something similar to this (tomorrow pics)View attachment 425735
Very heavy cast iron base looks solid and enough old to say it was built prior my grandfather decided to give the gift of life to my dad .
It has some rust on the table and the pillar but it moves very well.
Bought for 25 euros, seller asked for more than 100 I've literally said him quote
"I was thinking for way less money, like 25 euros, but I don't even propose you to sell it for this price because way lower than yours"
While leaving to come back home he said me " 25 is good "
Few months ago I've bought a Fein DSK 672-2 morse taper portable drill and I think it would fit nicely on this stand .
I will restore it as well.
Then lost a bargain for a 7kW Pramac Honda generator
You can get different hardness faces for the nylon screw type ones6x more Thor Hammers. Copper / Copper Hide mix. (The No 2 Copper and hide was already mine)
Guy had them on FB marketplace locally went and got them today. To my surprise they have not been used even once by the looks of it the faces are mint. (Except my existing one!)
