Fireworks and my dog.

I think it's a bit more regulated than that.
We crossed one state line and within 500mtrs there was huge department stores in the middle of nowhere.
1 liquor, 1 tobacco and 1 fireworks department store.
People cross the state lines and run the gauntlet.
I think in some states fireworks is banned altogether.

It wasn’t in Illinois, we bought a crate of beer, carried it to the gun dept, bought 500 3 1/2” magnum and the young lass behind the counter spotted me looking at a Remington pump action and promptly handed it to me for a better look. Right next to the slab of carts she’d just passed us. Not the most common sense I’ve ever seen

Banning the sale I think is the wrong approach.
Banning possession is the wrong approach.

Noise limits is the proper approach, if it isn't fireworks, it'll be something else.

"Disturbing the Peace" should cover all of it, but is never used anymore.

If you ban fireworks in this country, you will get a lot more dangerous black market ones appear and unless you have training on use, like myself, there will be a lot off injuries.
There is already a decibel limit on fireworks available in the UK and the amount of fireworks that get anywhere near that limit, is very very tiny.
Pure salute cakes and air b0mbs are banned and and salutes are not allowed to be the primary effect.
Everything is tested when it comes into the country and import companies are fined if anything fails.

None of our dogs or cats seem to bothered about fireworks, a lot of the time I think the owners worries /personalties get transferred to the pet, which may explain why my dog is an ********!

the two spaniels look up, but as there is no retrieve to be had, they settle back down,
the 7 month old JRTerrorist stands barking at the bangs, much the same as the thunder, not bothered but has to "have a word"

Went to an organised display last night, other than the car park being a muddy field it was an enjoyable night

We always have a few at home as well, I bonded with my dad over them and I'm doing the same with my son

The cats are in the spare room, listening to Classic FM. The younger cat still braved coming downstairs when she smelled tonights roast chicken

Peggy was better than last night, seems it started and finished in about 2 hours, hopefully. She wondered the house fretting for 2 hours, now chewing a bone that she had zero interest in when the whizz bangs were going off. Let's hope if stays that way.

Correction, the bombardment recommenced and she's now beside herself again.

Perhaps we can ban dogs at the same time, a bigger nuisance around here. Plenty of agressive as well as constantly barking near me and bags of poo left everywhere. No problem with well behaved dogs but that is not their nature, nor their owners.

I like fireworks, never bought any myself tho.

One of our neighbours (part of the Clampett clan for certain) has a small smallholding right next door to us, in fairness to them they spend most of their time babysitting the grandkids who cause (so far) absolutely no trouble and they are the only people in the whole street who I talk to. They had what is now becoming the annual firework event last night and the bonfire was bloody epic. We just totally ignored the fireworks and the boys didn't bother about them either, went to bed our usual time and despite a few very large salvo's around 8.30 we just went to sleep.

Our local village had theirs on Saturday but we get a really good view from home so didn't bother going down. Two labs were sitting on the edge of the top lawn just watching them nonplussed but then they normally enjoy sitting there in the summer lording it over the view. The mongrel was pacing back and forth but that's his default state other than barking at visitors.

We went down to the bigger fireworks in the local town last night and they had it "to music". Ruined what would have been a half decent display. It wasn't timed in any real way to the music and the music was deafening even with my fingers in my ears that you couldn't hear the fireworks. Not sure we'll be going back to those ones.

My daughters neighbours locked their young dog in the tiny back garden, while they went out all evening.

They've done it before, even when it's hammering down with rain. Typical chav types.
