The Terminator (1984), I would have also said Terminator 2 Judgement Day but that's 1991, I think. Of the two films I preferred Terminator 2 but it's outside the '80's parameter.
I did watch No Country For Old Men on Netflix or I Player recently and also reread the book last month. I think the book is better as it catches the idioms of rural Texas as the wartime generation (WW2) struggles with the reality of the post Vietnam War situation in the US.
