Water heater for garden hose to wash cars?

I have a side tap which is far away from where I wash cars.

To get hot water I take the buckets around to my utility and fill them there. Constant back and forth.

I have a garage at front where I set the Kranzle powerhose up outside and bring the cold hose around. I am wondering could I fit a 13, 16 or 32amp instant water heater there and click the hose into it when I plan to wash a few of my cars. To generate warm water for washing but also adjust for hot water to fill the buckets when I start out.

Something like a red ring brand? And add appropriate quick connect fittings. It would be inside but just inside the garage up and over door opening which stays open when washing cars outside.

Warm water will aid cleaning of the cars and engines etc, just warm or it would damage the powehose. And it will make washing cars during winter alot more pleasant!

There are no water supplies near this internal front garage unfortunately. The tap and sink are in a Utility room around back. It's all tarmac too so can't bring a bring around.

I'm sure I could plan and instal a mixer valve though. So the cold water from hose connects on and some water bypases and the heater picks up and feeds out too. That mixer valve outlet would go to the pressure washer and also protect it from too hot water. And if I want to fill a bucket have a separate Tee and tap directly off the water heater hot side.

A lot of the electric heaters need a vented outlet for expansion which normally means special taps so be careful

I've connected a hose to the un-used hot water supply to the washing machine before - had to drag the machine out of the way first.

I then ran a hose to my powerwasher when I wanted to give a bare engine block a good cleaning out.

Really good idea, i like that.

I have one of these in my garage. Its ok for washing hands, its never going to supply the amount of hot water a pressure washer would consume.

As above, the flow rate, temperature increase and laws of physics tell you the power needed to achieve your goal.

Pick a flow rate (time how long it takes to fill a 10 litre bucket from the cold tap - will 50% of that speed be OK for hot?).

Pick a temperature increment (stick a thermometer into a cold bucket and into a hot bucket and subtract the two numbers).

Example: 5kg of water (5 litre) start 15 degrees, end 40 degrees, 3000W power at 100% efficiency takes nearly 3 minutes. So that is an effective flow rate of 1.7 litres per minute or 6 minutes to fill your 2 gallon bucket. If you want 5 litres/minute for the same temperature rise, you need 8.7kW.

If you have it in a garage with power, cheapest installation is probably to fit a second hand hot water cylinder that you turn on x hours before you need it.

Why does it need to be so complicated?

Used the 2 bucket method so needed 2 warm buckets. Never had outside hot water but fitted a few for customers

Pretty much exactly that, the water heaters could be dubious quality but I fired ones designed for the New Zealand market, more expensive than the cheapanese offerings but never had a failure

I have one already. A big Lavor unit. It does not even fit around the side of my house without moving 3x classic cars out of the carport first.

Also it is very powerful and I only use it to Degrease engine blocks and diffs etc.

What I would like here is

WARM

Water. So I want to temper the cold mains water when my washing cars during winter.

In addition to this the only other function I would like is the ability to have warm / hot water to fill wash buckets with directly.

So say 30c water to washer and more like 50 - 60c water to fill a couple of buckets when starting out.

Personally I think you're making this harder than it needs to be

I have 2x large buckets 20L to fill. At present I walk away on around house to utility room inside to fill them

Would be nice to have another system easier at my front garage that hooks up to the hose pipe.

I dont mind using cold water for washing my car, except in the coldest of winter weather when I'll boil a kettle and pour it into the bucket.
