Yup, I have one, my family has always had gas dryers.
However, when purchasing the last one (6 years ago) there is a limited selection, and when delivered (delivery was to include hook up)
Delivery people saw it was gas, dropped it at the house, and went screaming into the night....
Hookup was easy if your handy, and have a mind to doing things right & safe.
Some people (especially ones installed in basements....) don't vent the exhaust outside, rather attach a filter to the outlet
to collect the lint. A bad way to go IMHO.
I hooked mine up as short as possible (located it near the outside wall), and used 4" dia. galvanized duct, no cheap vinyl
telescoping junk.
And I clean it out twice a year, simply step outside when it's running, remove the flapper, and run a long brush up in there, dislodging
lint as I go.
White Knight factory in Lightcliffe (ex Crosslee, ex Philips) is now in the process of becoming a housing estate . . . so I'm going to guess you won't see many more . .

Garage conversion job a couple of years ago, miele gas dryer in the garage. Decent appliance but a commercial looking thing with only a few years under it's belt.
Left out for scrap man no one wanted it. Whoever had installed it had core drilled external wall for the drum exhaust but had left the core in situ.
Don't recall there being an additional flue for combustion gasses.

We had a very strict lint clearing regime when I had my launderettes. The screens were cleaned every evening and a log signed off.
Amusingly when we had a quite major fire in one of them, the photos taken by the fire brigade clearly showed the log, badly charred but revealing that evenings sign off. Insurers were blaming lack of lint cleaning but in fact it was an electrical fault on the incommer.

parents had a gas tumble tryer when I was growing up, worked well, but I remember it being hard to get one when they wanted a replacement
must have bought the first one when I was a kid because I can remember helping my dad run the new gas pipe through the cellar to it, so they probably used them for 20 years
but... I think a heat pump dryer is probably cheaper to run because it's a sealed system, no ventilation in/out of it, just a dehumidifier connected to a spinning drum, a gas one constantly blows hot air out
I've got a heat pump one at home, no idea how much it costs to run, running that, a washing machine and 8amp car charger all on the same 16amp feed

Remember though that gas is typically 1/4 the price of electric so even if the heat pump is working well it won't be as cheap to run.

the gas type can heat air coming in from outside whilst swapping the air from the inside
any type of heat can be used as long as theres a heat exchanger inbetween the new fresh air to the stale house air exiting the building

A little clarification on my part, after I posted I realized I left some important note out.
Those that don't duct the dryer vent outside (they even make a lint filter with valve to do this) are
the electric ones, I don't think I have run across a gas fired one "direct venting" into the house.
However, there are people that will do anything these days....
However, recovering some heat (by not venting) still fills the house with moisture.
