Got the rack plate anodised and etched, also painted the 3D printed clasps and cut the straps and bolted them permanently to the plate.
This was the first time using sulphuric acid when anodising and it went well, voltage was way lower than it would have been with the sodium bisulphate.
All I need to do now, apart from fit to the bike, is find the clips that came with the kriega bag so I can hold the tails tidy when the bag is not in use.

Looked everywhere for a double female housing but couldn't find one. Didn't fancy swapping out between bag and straps as that would involve stitching.
I was going to but steel doesn't etch to great with the diode laserHave you had the con rods and pistons out yet to etch them?

Have a look on the LOMO water sports website, under the heading motorcycle drybags. They sell a set of tiedown straps which come with a pair of double female connectors. The shop is located in Glasgow.

Different sidelocks I am afraid. That is the big problem, they are all different, some look very close but they are not quite the same.

^^^^ why get those when you can build them yourself. Countless hours with equipment that most people can't operate or even understand, doing this and not doing work that actually pays the bills

More worktable progress.
Liberon Dark Oak wax. It's very easy to apply and should hide most oily finger marks. It smells really nice too.
The wax does show up some saw marks. I should have sanded more first.
Plywood sheets arrived nice and early this morning. An opportunity to try out my plunge saw. This pictured set up doesn't actually work. I can't clamp the track very easily so tried clamping some box section behind the track to act as a stop. The box interferes with the motor housing when the saw is plunged. Some lower profile steel strip would have worked but I managed without anyway. The saw coped fine, some more power wouldn't go amiss though.
Two 5' by 4' sheets stacked on top. They aren't screwed down yet. The table is destined for my workshop shed so it will have to come apart soonish and get finished there. I have some work for it in the garage first.
The edges could do with covering, just to stop splintering and catching on clothes. It's not the greatest material for a top, but being effectively one piece over the whole area, it requires the fewest fixings. I considered thick boards and 6" by 2"s etc, but they needed more bolting down and holes to drill. A 6mm steel plate would be just over 100kg and I have a wooden floor to consider. This'll do for now.
I made the frame for this table on the floor. I won’t have to do my next set of benches that way. Result.
Looking forward to tigging on this. There's a smaller 6mm plate on the red workbench that I can use to protect the top when required. I can get my fat legs comfortably under the table when sat on the stool. Feet nicely on the floor for a pedal if needs be. Arms and elbows supported on the table. It will be a nice change to be truly comfortable for once when tigging.
It's supposed to be for laying out, glue-ups, sheet metal work etc, but it will end up being my go to for everything for the time being. A few more benches and I can start tidying up round here.

Got my calcs wrong estimating a 6mm top. I calculated for a six foot length instead of five. A five by four would come in at 87.5kg. Still too much, possibly.
