My local hire place did me a Hilux for £70 a day (plus mileage), trailer was £30 a day and had a dropdown at the back and winch for rolling lathe or mill up - not sure why you're being quoted so much or need a "luxury" 4x4?

Got sorted, bought a real tow machine 
It was cheap but it needs welding in next coupe years and maybe a fuel pump.....no i am sure needs one. BUT had new rear coils fitted
towed the bat to new owner yesterday wt no problem. glad i am back wit a Shoggy
Yes back end is low, boat needed moving back to balance the weight better bug had nothing to do so. Atleast its set up fo

Not sure but u know that LR are rubbish for reliability. I like them but need it on the road not.being repaired lol.
Used a.good fee.
There just useless plastic light surrounds. I don't like them myself. Amd to much tech ruins a car. I am gappy with a nice a drive and useful.

Not much going to beat a boxy shape
I used to tow a lot in last place I worked using an Isuzu D-Max 2.5 twin-turbo thing.
I recall that could tow 3.5 tonne, although the gross braked train weight on the plate was 6000kg (& the base vehicle was 2040kg, so you couldn't carry much more than your lunch if you had 3500kg behind.
I can say though it was a very good tow vehicle - it pulled like a demented dentist.

..and I hear alllll the complaints about bad towing in the USofA...
If you do get the thing rolling, you still need to steer it.

Some years ago I had a very hairy moment towing a yacht (j24) middle of the night, half asleep, down hill. Was driving an old Rover SD1..V8 thing, superb tow car until I tried to slow down togo through a chicane of cones as one lane was closed, then over to the other carriageway. Boat was pushing the car, so stopped braking and just accepted I was taking the easy route and lots of cones with me….must have relocated about 200 by the time I came out the other end. It would have not been much over2.5 ton if that.
Im somewhat more careful now!

No brakes? That said boat trailer brakes rarely work as they should, especially after a few dunks in the sea followed by being laid up for yonks.
