I do like I well vinegared welkI can scoff a pint of whelks without any issues. Never tried the oysters, just seems wrong eating something like that raw.

Tonight I'm going to tick an item off my (mental) bucket list and sample my first ever oyster.
Wish me luck......![]()
I find that cooked to a slight orangy golden brown colour in a lightly buttered frying pan they are quite nice but either side of that colour only good for bait .I was quite disappointed by the flavour and texture. I just recently had scallops, fresh off the boat. Thought I was in for a real treat, a lot of people I know rave about them. Won’t be bothering again
Last time I had cooked cockles was in 1971 from a fresh fish stall in Basildon , I've never ever been so ill . Was VSI for five days and now carry an intolerance to most over the counter cooked shell fish save for scallopsLove them..scallops as well.. not had cockles for donkeys years
Foul ?Donkeys ears? Now your talking, taste like chicken..

Are Mountain Oysters next on the (mental) bucket list?
They're very nice cubed, breaded, and fried.
