I agree, but that looks a younger bird than the one you have. I’ve never seen a chaffinch with yellow bars, the only other ones I know would be a Siskin or greenfinch - and obviously yellowhammer but it’s not one of those.

Chaffinch have white wing bar, that one looks yellow so I’m sticking with goldfinch!

Daughter and the kids (including me) reared a tit chick that had fallen out of the nest this summer - liquidised dog food with strawberries for desert - it loved it. Eventually started trying to fly around inside the budgie cage, so she let it go - somehow I doubt it learnt to feed itself before dying of hunger, but you never know.

Pretty much yeah, some birds are quite extreme ( lots of finches are, pheasants etc) whereas others are really difficult to tell apart, eg robins

I was working [ production chief ] at Belfast Pride a couple of Saturdays ago ,,, dont take anything for granted , When I was doing mobile stages for a living I used to provide the production for Belfast Custom Bike Show [ hells angels annual do] one weekend , and Belfast Pride the next weekend , both in the same venue and both on the Saturday , some days it was hard to tell if some of the punters were actually a week early , or a week late ... both were a great day out though.

Feathery type, flys, etc.
