Hollow ground flat head screwdrivers

I want to get a decent set of flat head screwdrivers.
At the moment, out of who knows how many screwdrivers! I only have 1 I ever want to use. It's a faithful I think, hard to tell due to handle damage, but the tip is hollow ground and it's just better than any of my others.

Hollow ground seem.a little hard to find though apart from gunsmiths ones. Any sets of decent, general workshop, types out there?

Only Hollow ground I know of are Wera?

I'll check the Williams out, I've heard them mentioned before.

I do t understand why hollow, or parallel ground, aren't sold more often. They make any other flat head feel like a rubbish poorly fitting mess.

It seems the main reason most people have flat head screws is because all the drivers are made wrong!

Always hard to tell from photos but the Williams ones look taper ground.

I've heard them.called gurnscrew drivers before, but had forgotten that term.
I'll look at the Aldi ones when I see them next.

My favourite I have right now is a cheap screwdriver, but it's loads better than any of the others.

I have a Brownells set, like this one. Click Here. I don't know what's available in your area. Having a large range of blade widths and thicknesses is great for getting a snug fit that won't cam-out or otherwise damage the slots. A full set isn't cheap, but I get a lot of use out of it, since I do quite a bit of restoration work on antique gadgets and antique houses.

I've never heard that. Turnscrew is an archaic word meaning screwdriver.

Wiha are not really hollow ground but they get the same effect.

Chapman are closer to hollow ground and, in addition, have some very narrow (sharp) blades that fit the narrow slot screws that I come across.

PB swiss are top notch, parallel tips and precisely sized for metric fasteners (yes there is a difference). Not sure where you would get them over here now, without importing them.

I paid about £136 +pp about 2 years ago for my set, so about the right price these days...

Still cheaper than the Snap-on branded version and they come out the same factory door...
