Water tanks that collect rainwater, then use it to flush the khazi.I saw a Japanese toilet, where the sink was over the cistern. Idea was, you washed your hands into the cistern then that was used for the next flush.
Someone on here had used one and said they’re crap. I haven’t. I was taken with the idea though. If we could reuse more water before it leaves the house that would be a start.
If you scaled that up to a lab office building or a hotel that would be lots of water and money saved.
When I lived in northern Thailand for a spell, years ago, all the water for the house I was staying at was collected from the roof. It was diverted into 5' tall clay urns, huge great things. Showering was done with a scoop, in the garden, whilst wearing a sarong. No privacy there, but the crapper had a screen around it.
When water ran out we would blag some off a neighbour, who was rich enough to have mains water piped in.
Here I am on water detail, back in 1990.
