Review Ginour true colour mask

Got mine today but I haven't tried welding with it yet. First impressions not great, the headband is horrible and the mask housing miles too heavy for it. I also found that despite much fiddling with the length adjusters it was standing so far forward off my face it wa pulling on the headband and I just know I'm going to have backlight issues. This was improved slightly when I found out what the green buttons were for in the middle of the tension adjusters - they allow you to slide the housing forwards and backwards a bit on the headband.

Gonna have a go at welding with it tomorrow probably.

I've had this two months and think its great, heres a mini review of it.

I managed to get out in daylight yesterday, but only just, 4:30pm, so got some photos

Phone looking through the ADF is very clear, very little tint. It goes down to shade 5 but 9-11 seems to suit my work best at 40-150A. Camera right up against the filter:

The side windows are plain tinted green, and the right shade for the position. Very useful for seeing stuff around you. I would not go back to a mask without them - if I had to, I would be buying some filter glass, cutting a hole and gluing it on.



The adjustments are inside, I rarely touch them. If you adjust often, it might be a pain but I like it, I can't accidently change the shade, I take it off to adjust. Headband is comfortable, lots of adjusters.

This is is a good bit clearer in light mode than the other true colour I used, the GYS Alien XXL and about the same when dark. Both good masks, but the side windows on this meant its the one I picked up every time.

I got mine at £33 but the price has gone up, currently has 10% off voucher to £45.

I found a YT review which shows it better than my photos. He doesnt give it much praise, which I think is odd, as the lens is better than anything else I see in the same or double price range. Skip to 14 minutes to see through the filter.

Just ordered one of these. Tried my new R-tech tig welder for the first time today, and my 20 year old auto helmet is far too dark, and scratched up, so time for an investment.

I used mine again yesterday. It was fine in the shade of some trees behind the garage. The actual welding was a big fail but the mask worked fine.

I bought one yesterday for £34

Used it today already, wow what a difference! I had been using a Lidl lid and had a silver line one too. I was struggling to see the weld while I was welding and always had to flip it up after to check it. Now it's easy to see while welding and when it comes back to light it's easy to see the finished weld.

I have found the headband comfortable and easy to adjust as well.

I would certainly recommend to anyone.

I've had mine a few weeks now, and as others have mentioned the strap system is awful to use. It takes two hands to put on and off and fiddle around getting it sitting right.

It gives better visibility when I'm trying to Tig weld, as it has lighter shades than my old helmet, but I've not really used it often enough to make a judgment on the 'true colour' bit.

I bought one to see (no pun intended) and I am quite impressed.

I find the strap pretty un-noticeable - pick it up, put it on, tweak the tightness. Weld. Take it off.

These aren’t currently available on Amazon, does anyone know where I can get one or if there are any rebadged versions available at a reasonable cost ?

All I could find was this on ebay, however not sure if its the same as the Ginour or an inferior version.

Mine works perfectly outside in the sun, I do everything outside. May be a bad /over sensitive one and worth getting a replacement?

@Onoff Side windows are a proper welding shade with IR and UV filters, cant remember what number, 8 or 9? a bit light but its not going to hurt you. Ive done some beads looking at it through the side.

I've started using my Ginour mask recently, when my other one died, but also found I keep getting flashed. I thought it was because I'm working near to a window with sun streaming through, but I blocked that off and it still happens. Then I turned off the LED strip lights and it hasn't flashed since. Any views on this? Is it coincidence, or could LED light affect it. Or maybe just strip lights in general?

I havent had any problems, tho not used it much recently. LED's likely to trigger it but nothing should "untrigger it" whilst your welding. Possibly too much ambient light compared to the welds brightness?
