New product, A tool to dismantle rifle bolts for cleaning, this one is Remington 700 but can be modified to dismantle others.

First up, make some latches:



Then some toggle levers:



Then make a Quick n Dirty jig:



No pics of the body construction but it is 1" Acetal so it doesn't mark the bolt:




Because it goes over centre it holds the tension:



and you can then just unscrew the firing pin from the bolt body. I have another tool I make for dismantling the pin from the spring but I need to work out a better (and faster) way of making those.

When you work on probably 100s of rusty bolts per week its the little things that help The spaghetti melter is useful but I must admit this isn't one of the most useful designs. Still it does the job!

On the topic of plastic spaghetti melters, I just 3D printed these:




I wanted a way of just always carrying a decent selection of electrodes in the toughbox i carry my MMA inverter in, so i 3D printed some dividers to fit the Blue Demon storage tubes. The blue has 2.5mm & 3.2mm 7018 and the red has 2mm, 2.5mm & 3.2mm 6013 in it. With the 2mm electrodes only being 300mm long and the rest 350mm, I cut some 25mm conduit and 3D printed a plug to glue into the bottom of it so the 2mm electrodes stick out 10mm higher than the rest to make them easier to grab.

Bought the hairpin legs though, by the time I'd made and painted them it just wasn't worth the effort.

Just need to paint the benches that go with it.

Some bits for the chateau in the village. The hoops are for a pair of 19thC gates that don’t meet in the middle as they’ve been moved to a new location. I declined to fit them as it’s sacrilege to weld stuff onto gates that have been made by hand with no electric welding, bolts or rivets on them, all joints dovetailed.

Made my garage easier to get in and out of when the van and car are in front of it. Also makes it much lighter inside when open compared to just one door and also means I am not constantly having to try and stop the wind ripping the doors off the hinges when I open them.

Welded a shaft of my flail mower

Lathe is too small so made a boring head fit in the lathe. Then I made it too thin for the bearing so have to do everything again

I'm still using up scraps of ply, this time to make the drawers for the painting cabinet. 9mm fronts, 6mm back and sides birch ply and 5mm builders merchant special for the base. Construction this time is just glue, a drawer of paint brushes shouldn't be very challenging and I am likely to put a brad through my finger if I try to air pin 6mm ply. 5 drawers components all cut to size.

Awkward to glue and clamp so rigged up a bit of a jig. The duck shaped things work like a cam, turn it to exert pressure then put another screw through to hold it,

I ended up with 5 drawers that fit.

I left the base a little long at the back. This way you can trim it down so the drawer fits flush with the front of the cabinet.

I had a few bits of walnut veneer left over from the kitchen baseboards that I did a couple of years ago, It would be rude not to.

drawers in position but still need the back trimming slightly, I will do that once all the masking is removed, I won't have the paint until Thursday so will leave the masking on until then.

I'll give the drawers two coats of Bona Mega and fit the drawer handles tomorrow.
