Ceramic bushes???

Hi folks, I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I’ve posted elsewhere about my repairs to my in-tank fuel pump cradle.
As I had done some brazing on it, I’d removed the wiring connections to save them for re-use.



They appeared to have been riveted on through ring terminals, and came away easily after grinding away the heads of said rivets.

However, upon trying to re-install….







Any thoughts on how I can proceed? I’ve come so far repairing the cradle and this was literally the last step before reinstalling it into the tank, so I’m loathe to order a new one (they’re quite pricey).
This is the +ve wire, which is insulated from the rest of the cradle which is earthed….

I've use tig torch insulators for a job like that before..

Machine something from an appropriate grade of plastic?

Rubber grommet and make a new brass peice to bolt in? https://www.lsengineers.co.uk/rubber-fuel-tank-grommet.html This would be my choice. EDIT: This may be a fire risk if the rubber fails and shorts out the pump wire.

I've use tig torch insulators for a job like that before..

….. I’ll have to look at my little-used Tig rig….

I used to make insulators for a company that rewound big ie over 45kw electric motors, they used to free issue a material called Macor. It is a machinable ceramic. Think you can buy small quantities from RS electronics

Could you cut/ mould something from fibreglass.

Believe in yourself. Make a test piece from wood first. Find a lump of wood. Drill a 4mm or 5mm hole through it (same size as the brass piece). Put a nut and bolt through the hole and tighten. Grip in cordless drill. Spin. Apply file until it is the right shape and size. Repeat with the proper material.

I have got some round bar ertalyte here (a bit like nylon 66 - best google it for data sheets). I think it's either 20 or 25mm dia. Happy to put a 100mm length in the post for you if it helps.

Sorted! Much thanks for all your help folks, but especially @bs2236 who supplied the ertalyte bush which only needed minimal fettles to make it fit.

All that remains is to tap the brass tube to take an m3 bolt and ring terminal
