Even in 1972 they were making films about itSurely the elephant in the room of all the world's problems is too many people? Or rather if there were less people the problems wouldn't be so great? You don't need to be carol vorderman to know that 50% less people means 50% less consumption of absolutely everything, food, water, energy, housing etc... I'm not suggesting bumping people off, but probably the biggest contribution to climate change somebody could make is not going on less holidays or cycling to work once a month but having less children.

Britain's first 500-tonne nuclear reactor in 30 years arrives
The 42ft, 500-tonne white 'reactor pressure vessel' arrived today at Hinkley Point C in Somerset. It will be the first nuclear reactor to be installed in the UK since the 1990s.www.dailymail.co.uk
Arrived on site at last.
Shame a certain Government sold off Westinghouse a few years ago. Past Governments determined to get rid of nuclear power.

He was.I thought Westinghouse was an American company?
It was - but then it became British. Back in the late 90s Britain was buying up half the World. Economy was doing very well.I thought Westinghouse was an American company?
Along with loads of Gold.It was - but then it became British. Back in the late 90s Britain was buying up half the World. Economy was doing very well.
In 2006 Brown sold off £50bn of British assets - Westinghouse was one of them.
Yup - the graph is still called the Brown BottomAlong with loads of Gold.

Hey ! Your all wrong...Same old arguments - but annually wind provides a sizeable chunk which means its not being provided by gas. We could of course wait until the currently non existent smr come on line (10 years?) and just carry on using ~30% more gas per year....
I should point out that I'm currently working on projects for the nuclear industry so I'm far from being anti nuclear, but I'm also a realist and understand its not happening overnight and comes with its own not incosiderable problems. The 2 (or more if you include solar and other renewables) technologies are not mutually exclusive either - its not one or the other. I would imagine its going to be a combination of technologies working together that will be the norm.
In that case, well worth supportingHey ! Your all wrong...

Thunberg, Indigenous protesters block Norway energy ministry over wind farms
Environmental campaigner Greta Thunberg and hundreds of other activists on Monday blocked entrances to Norway's energy ministry, protesting against wind turbines built on land traditionally used by Indigenous Sami reindeer herders.www.reuters.com
Marvel's Avengers series was actually about Thanos the hero who tried to do exactly this by getting some infinity stones and snapping his fingers to make 50% of the people in universe disappear painlessly, but got thwarted by the bad guys who undid what he had acheived. It was actually a tragic storySurely the elephant in the room of all the world's problems is too many people? Or rather if there were less people the problems wouldn't be so great? You don't need to be carol vorderman to know that 50% less people means 50% less consumption of absolutely everything, food, water, energy, housing etc...
Brown sold out at the very bottom. The graph is V shaped hence the term Brown Bottom. Most countries kept hold of a big part of their reserves. He also sold off £50 billion of British state assets including Westinghouse.Loads of other countries were selling off gold too, it was not unusual but he announced it so the price dropped costing $100 million in 1999, which is about $180 million in todays money.
However Sunak cost us £11 Billion by not insuring the national debt repayments against interest rate changes, despite Bank of England advising to do so
But everybody will remember Gordon Brown's, not Sunak's cock up!
Why build them on land? They are much bigger and better at sea. No problems with transport either.Hey ! Your all wrong...
