But I came to add a connectir and noticed there are two holes in the handle.
One seems to have a filter in it and it also has a thread in it.
So I am assuming that is for the connector but what on earth is the other hole for

In that case it is probably just a normal filter to stop the ****e getting in.
Sometimes they put something similar on the exhaust ports to cut down the noise.

It was the exhaust port. Worked just fine..
