What is a camelback used for?

The YouTube four day course experts want camelback and they make the majority

Don't see many old-stock beams for sale but loads more old-stock camelbacks. They haven't just become fashionable all of a sudden.

For machine work yes. I can only base my experience upon working in such places.

At the end of the day a camel back is a tool used to restore worn machine parts or used after a machining process. It improves ridgity. Tighter tolerances. Improves tool life. Less tool chatter. Better lubricant control. It matters not to me who has been doing for 50 years or not or who is better at it. Everyone has a slightly different technique with it but it's a good process to learn.
