Closed system.

Limited hardware choices.

Within the pc world there are soanu hardware choices conflicts will happen.

Same with the software.

But that same reason is what makes them cheaper to buy run upgrade and maintain.

Which are often regarded as positives by others. As Parm says, they just work.

I've never gotten along with those either, the touch screen only ever seems to get used for scrolling, and it does a worse job of it than gesture inputs on a decent trackpad. I've only ever used cheap crap detachable tablet PCs though, I'd probably feel differently if I had a nice one with a good stylus.

This one has a decent stylus responsive to input pressure.

Though it wasn't particularly cheap, but it should last a good number of years. And it will earn it's money in a short time

The point is that very many people DON'T. Ergo, they are the perfect choice for those people who are extremely happy about it. Horses for courses.

So, some folk buy a brand new vehicle every three years, costs a lot of money, they get peace of mind

If it goes wrong, your take, and I’m guessing, all the dealers will be robbing bar stewards because the thing can only be fixed with thier special tool or software

Some folk will have to accept this, while other industrious folk may be able to find a work around or solution

The world is full of options and choices to cater for everyone

Wonder how many billions apple have spent so far fighting the right to repair movement.

They don't want it fixed. They want to sell you a new device.

When the so called experts in store are stating a machine is uneconomical to repair for a £100 part or chip replacement so they can sell you a new 1500 pound laptop it's no wonder that want to keep the status quo. Especially when they are bleeding money.

No one has forced an apple product on you, folk are allowed to make thier own choices, for what ever reason they want

To get back to the debate....
A few years ago I had a Samsung tablet, bought on Amazon. It worked well, I liked it. One day on holliday in Cyprus it told me I needed to upload (download?) the latest OS, which I did. That was the end of the tablet...
Still under warranty, it was sent to Samsung. They refused to repair it because it was a non uk tablet (but it had been bought through Amazon in the UK). Amazon refused a refund saying it was a Samsung issue. A little googling found that there were hundreds if not thousands like me with a useless doorstop.
Threats of uploading a video of me fixing the tablet with a sledgehammer eventually got Amazon to refund me the cost of it. Photos and everything on it lost. Samsung are wa....ers.
On the flip side my iPads are clumsy and I hate doing anything other than browsing on them, so there I sit, right on the fence with a sore bum...

I been buying Lenova P11 tablets for diagnostic work - Battery life is very good with them - not the full 15hrs as advertised (but will manage 10hr full day working hard).

Good choice of rugged cases about for the P11 tablets as well.
