greasing cordless ratchets?

I use iso or zepp as it carry it in cans, but I agree I think the colour helps. My DeWalt is stained it won't make you dirty but it looks crap

I been wiping them over in petrol and it has not even removed the "white" off the raised "milwaukee" embossing.

(not saying petrol is a kind solvent at all).

All in all been pleased with the MW kit I bought - they sell rubber boots for most things - which pleases the "mechanic" in me... Plus I sent one battery back under warranty - they sent a new one in 24hrs (far better than the Snap On warranty I had on previous battery gear). Only gripe I got with MW is - the warranty registration process is "hard work" online. But the warranty is good!

My mate into Hilti 22V tools in a big way - he reckons they do a "service exchange service" for tools out warranty which is second to none - do MW do anything like this?

Hilti is good but you do pay a price for it!.

What suprises me with this Milwaukee stuff is: You put a little/tiny bit of petrol on a clean rag - give them a wipe over and they come up like new!

GT85 does the job really well and smells much nicer. I use it all the time on Snap On soft handle ratchets, the rubber comes up like new.

I've always greased manual ratchets - never had a problem in 40+ years of doing so despite some claiming they should be left dry

I've always done it too, it's surprising how much better even a cheap ratchet feels after it's been lubed. When I'm the mood I just do them all.

I've got 3 flavours of assembly on my ratchets

Circlip holding the mech
Spring washer/clip that needs to rotated out
Screws holding the mech.

Only drawback I could see is if you got metal filings or dirt I the M12 head, with grease or oil in there they would stick to it?.

Thus the advice to wash out with "brake cleaner and air"...
