greasing cordless ratchets?

I have 3 milwakee cordless ratchets and just ordered the long reach one.

Anyway I was getting the mot done last week on the shogun and I saw the mechanic greasing all of his snap on cordless ratchets.
I have never greased mine, and now feel guilty.

Do you folks grease yours? if so how regular and with what kind of grease. It makes sense they would need some lubrication.

All the MW Fuel ratchets are dead simple to lube, lay them on their back and take a close look at the small circle at the base of the square drive, see the small cut out notch? apply a few drops of thin oil and let it soak in then a drop or two on the spinning shaft mechanism and thats it, well thats all I do!

That's not official Milwaukee though.

I was going to use some BOA 90 regardless but I'm positive Milwaukee state Maintenence Free in the manual.

There is, snap on even sells a mini grease pump for it…not done mine yet but I have done my big impact wrench from Milwaukee !

I got two Milwaukee M12 ratchet - I just spray the head with brake cleaner - then blow out with airline - then oil with light oil from an oil can.

I am sure I did read they are "maintenence free" somewhere...

i grease mine couple times a month, it gets used alot and i mean alot probably polish of a 2ah battery a day or two

I just pop the circlip of pull the ratchet out then remove the drive bearing and plate then apply some lithium grease i find oil oddly reduces how well it works (i whip out sump plugs with it) i can tell when it needs servicing

I did oil pump this morning on a VAG 1.6 Caddy max engine - my M12 ratchet got a proper oiling - it was dripping in black engine oil.

Because we drain the sumps onsite outside (Cummins engines) I keep my pan about an inch from the plug meaning my fingers can't get in without a soaking. So I started using the M12.

Poor thing drips for days

What suprises me with this Milwaukee stuff is: You put a little/tiny bit of petrol on a clean rag - give them a wipe over and they come up like new!

I use iso or zepp as it carry it in cans, but I agree I think the colour helps. My DeWalt is stained it won't make you dirty but it looks crap

I've always greased manual ratchets - never had a problem in 40+ years of doing so despite some claiming they should be left dry

Lots of things say they are maintenance free for the life of the item, but that is their life and I like to make things last longer if possible.

Autolube grease is good for the manual ones, thin enough to make getting it between the teeth easy, but not so thin it leaks out.
