@25.4_mechanic ,interesting mc ,is that a hijab type crane boom slung over the back,tell me more about it.

The thing is called GMG_2,5 for "off-road multi-purpose equipment" ("Geländegängiges Mehrzweck Gerät 2,5t") with 2.5t lifting capacity (in reality much more).

The attempt of the GDR at the very end to defeat the class enemy on the logistics side (and probably also to create an export hit within the Warsaw Pact).

They put everything that the GDR's planned economy had to offer in terms of vehicle and computer technology into this part.

The requirements-specification-book was huge, the thing became much too complicated, it can do everything except to fly and is also fast .....

Rumor has it that after the fall of the Berlin Wall, U.S. military specialists tracked down the 50 or 80 best examples, collected them and shipped them to the U.S. because there was nothing comparable in the West.

Telescopic loaders are better today if they have all-wheel steering, but still don't run 70km/h and can do wading ...

Mine is number 78 from 1988.

This thing is actually pretty interesting, it would warrant its own thread .... but do I want to do the work!!?

Plus, new cheap rope and bag for climbing. Aswell as a second new rope and harness in the post. £280 spent yesterday I got told off that my first rope was getting a bit worn and fluffy!

Monday was a day trip to Wye Valley. Great day, apart from the long journey!

A bit of skip diving today resulted in three frames. The previous owners didn't think it was worth the time and effort to dismantle them for bits. I did

The result of dismantling was three sheets of polycarbonate (that I probably don't have a use for), one with most of the protective cover still on:

A pile of handy fasteners and end caps:

and this lot of 3030 extrusion (longest length is about 900 mm):

A variety of different profile types, but I'm sure all will be useful

@Brad93 I went through some of the codes ages ago and saved a search, I rarely check it but had a look for your thread.
There will be other insert shapes but I think for deep boring its best to stick with positive inserts and keep cutting forces to the minimum.

Yes more drawers, first a nice little 24 drawer unit, it appears to come from the sewing department of a college

Some drawers have contents, not much use to me apart from the spanners.

Pin spanners are always useful

Next, a nice little set of drawers that I though would be perfect for my marking up gear, callipers, marking gauges etc.

This has some contents too

And finally, another 54 drawer unit, I now have more drawers than an Anne Summers house party

I did not know it went Vroom vroom. Untill I was told.

This had to be shown to every one, inculding the dog.

These vices lock up very well. You can see the precision tapers in the photo below, which is also of a Jones and Shipman universal vice.

I find the original grey with a tiny green tinge quite pleasant ... if paint at all, maybe support that gray with a touch of a light lime green?!??

What do you have in mind?
