New yard/work boots

Finally killed my muck boots, and I don’t need anything with welly levels of waterproof on the yard now, so had been looking around.

Ive gone for a pair of the screwfix “site boots” and can highly recommend, had them a Couple of days now, and with the addition of a pair of gel insoles are extremely comfortable, and easy to slip on and off.

I can see them getting some hammer so have just given them a dousing of dubbin, particularly round the sole stitching, before they get stained

Used to use amblers then went to the hoggs of Fife.

Well 2 pairs both failing in under 4 months a pair. I don't think that's overly good when £70 a pair.
Tis a bit cack really.

Bucklers and v12 both last really well. I am hard on boots and can get out of a year from them. But I found v12 incredibly uncomfortable to walk in so only ended up using them for machine work. Bucklers are my favorites. Every time I buy something else I end up going back to them.

In the states they are alot cheaper. Sometimes you can get good deals on American workwear if you use Amazon USA and log in with a UK Amazon prime account. It gives you free shipping and import duty. And you only pay the American price. I think even returns are free. But I prefer to buy boots in person. Have bough a few pairs of jeans this way though

Clogs! I wear them in the workshop and on site as much as I can, 1-8th inch thick full grain leather won’t be burned thru and once you get used to walking in them their lovely and comfy

Worked a lot with scandis and they wear leather clogs for Nearly everything.

I was issued some steel toed ones in Denmark but they’ve long gone.

crap boots in my experience, need insoles to be comfortable and fall to bits in weeks.

What comfy trainer type work shoes are you chaps all using? I wear my old trainers around the workshop but they fall apart quickly and so I thought I would get something from the likes of screwfix/toolstation. Need to be comfy on concrete, doing jobs around the car, decorating in the house etc, so dont need rigger/dealer boot type robustness. I wear my wellies when i am out in the fields/mowing etc

If you want decent dealer style work boots then look for blundstone or red backs.

Never heard of them Matt, let us know how you get on with them. I bought some of the 'site' boots as per @blackolive (Ste) post from screwfix, had to try on a few pairs in the carpark to find a pair that fitted properly despite them all being the same size, that said the ones I got are very comfy.

cheap i ware them for 10hr a day they have taken a week to wear seam to be fine

and they seam to come on offer every so offten for 37 quid ish

V12 are brilliant. I’ve just not long ******** my last pair of dealer boots. They came with a free keyring and apparently that stopped about 8 years back according to the bloke in the shop in town. They’re not work boots as I need laces but they’re worn more than going out boots so I’ve had my use.

Those red backs were at the county show this year. The sole looked really cheap and nasty.

Both my boys wear Redbacks, seems to be the uniform for young farmers in our area. They certainly seem to be able to cope with daily abuse. For the best fit apparently going half size down and let them stretch seems to be recommended. Eldest has steel for work and non steels for going out. Again not cheap at around £90
