Not sure I really needed an 8th grinder in all honesty , but it was being cleared out and too much of a bargain. That's the excuse anyway.
I have an identical one of these already, and it is one of my favourites - not as refined as the Metabo, but a good solid workhorse.

I probably should get organised and build a grinder rack, but that would just be tempting fate - bound to need an extra slot.

Use 8foot of equal 60 mm x 5 or 6mm or similar ...... Dexi-gon even . Chop off two 3 inch lengths and weld them under the L so you can securely bolt it to a wall or weld on a frame ,then just hang them over the lip so it's between the head and the shield ?

Besides the sparks that the motorcyclists here have referred to, on shoes they made a metallic click as you walked. It was a 'thing'.

It was waaay earlier than that... - and born of necessity. Meant Dad could replace them, so avoiding cobbler's bill for reheeling.

I think Segs went out of fashion about the same time as polishing workboots, don't see many folk polishing workboots these days.

Although being retired and working on my project house, I still polish my shoes & work boots, and even have them resoled; guess old habits die hard.

Doesn't everyone who wears shoes (As opposed to trainers) I get them resoled/heeled? So much cheaper than buying new ones. I've never heard of getting workbooks repaired, but it's usually the upper that goes first anyway, the toe wears down till the steel shows through and then they're not waterproof and they go in the bin.

We used to have an ex Royal Marine doing little jobs about the workshop, his shoes were almost mirror polished, he also liked to talk about his time in the Marines, after a few weeks everyone knew the story of the raid on Limbang off by heart

Managed to pick up a new Norton 376/51 Amal Monobloc that a main jet change has made the same as the original 376/5:

I can only comment on my early teenage recollections of their use; I was born in '70!

Anyway thought I would polish them to keep them nice but it just blocks the leather making them a lot hotter and feet more sweaty , and it doesn't need to be waterproof leather with a goretex layer underneath so they just get the crap scrubbed off them every now and then

Been using a decent pair of YDS for the last 4 years. Don't wear them everyday so they've lasted really well

Ah, yes. Some of us went through a phase in junior high school when big horseshoe heel taps and toe taps/segs on penny loafers were cool. We liked the loud clicking noise on the terrazzo floors and how we could take a run and slide on the concrete. However, on some surfaces they were as slippery as snot on a glass door knob, and after getting more than my share of bruises on my elbows and keister, I eventually pulled them off. They looked like these:

Today I acquired a load of consumables from a chap I swapped a box of aircraft parts with after I had a clear out. Had quite a bit of stuff when it was all added up!

It was just under the 10kg RM size and this one was about the same.

The 2k adhesive has been obscured as it’s got a batch number on. Nothing untoward but it’s timex so should be destroyed.

He can use it all and I’m happy with my end of the deal so all good. I’ve also got a roll of leading edge tape coming but that’s in a separate package, apparently.
