Looked into this, quite difficult with these ones as there are two pistons tacked on top of eachother, of different diameter... weird designThere's a place locally that re-sleeves brake cylinders with a stainless sleeve and you end up with something better than the original. Probably a service available in the UK too?
You're probably right about thatProbably to do with front/rear brake balance.
PastParts at Bury St Edmunds do this in the UK.There's a place locally that re-sleeves brake cylinders with a stainless sleeve and you end up with something better than the original. Probably a service available in the UK too?
You know that's a good idea and I wish I thought of that. The casting is really bad, full of pits that appear out of nowhere. The only other thing I can think of is hand finishing with a small (narrow) flat file. Pretty much the same as machining except the narrowness lets you work with the bow. It could also be that the quality of the casting simply is not good enough for what you are trying to achieve.
That's the plan, but actually now I think it would have turned out better with a file... Coarse and then fine, and finished with some light sandpaper and then some autosol... But I've already removed enough material and wouldn't want to take more off.... You live and you learnSee what the customer says when you show it to them and you tell that you are not satisfied with it, but it is as good as it can be.
She thinks the parts are purrrrfect!I see the QC Inspector is keeping a close eye on your work!
