I did my back garden, levelled it etc. It was great fun driving the digger. One thing that wasn't obvious to me before I started was that digging holes is easy, leveling the ground is very tricky with a digger. They are not designed to simply move the bucket horizontally (one would have thought an obvious requirement) so you have to move the 2 bits of the arm independently to get the bucket to move horizontally. This is an art in itself and for me usually ended up in me taking chunks out of the ground. I eventually did it with a combination of improved skill (although still not great) and using the bar you put down to stabilise it as a sort of plough!!

Our cable tv was under 2" in the garden, but thats a minor issue if you went through it. No immediate safety/cost issue like a water, gas, power or sewer main would be. It might take a while to get a VM technician out but thats usually free.
Our water is luckily, a bit too deep for the water guys and so far they are unable to fit an external smart meter

In this case, the company carry the product, so having it out the front is a bit of advertising, I assume they'll get it for free, and more importantly there's no maintenance. When I leave at the end of the month there'll be no one there to cut proper grass, the gravel I've just taken up was too high maintenance for them, you should have seen the size of the weeds I was pulling out.
Clearly touched a nerve there.
If it still gets weeds in it it's not killing all the flora that should be there, but from what I've seen weeds don't grow up through it, and the massive block paved car park next to it is preventing a lot more flora. You're probably right about the environmental concerns, but I'm sure there's much bigger sources of microplastics. The areas they've already got look very good imo and don't stink or feel any hotter than the rest of the ground. It's not a garden anyway, it's the bit of land between the pavement and a commercial building so it just has to look tidy, no one should be walking on it so there'll never be paws to burn.

Yep here too, guys planting poles for fibre yesterday hit the pipe and waters off, road closed. On now again but roads still closed

I know what you mean. But sometimes bigger machines can get deceptively big when working near buildings though, you think you're several feet away and then crunch

Sometime in the eighties we had our gas supply relaid in yellow plastic pipe by contractors. Supposed to be eighteen inches deep. A few months later I was digging in the front garden a put my fork straight through the plastic pipe, about six inches down. Que me sitting in the garden warning people about the leaking gas until the gas board turned up about half an hour later.
3t would be good. Prob OK with wee 1.8t but need to dig round roots more. If you do any more it doesn't hurt to leave a bit of trunk so you can put the bucket over and use it like a lever to loosen the roots.

Hired a guy with a 3t digger to do a bit including a couple of roots to dig out. Now the roots were possibly a bit bigger than yours but it took him a while and he needed different buckets for the job, narrow to break roots wider for general digging and an even wider bucket to undermine the root ball. Imo. 3t probably not big enough.
BTW those panes of glass are to close for a novice you need to practise in the middle of a field first.

If they were conifers you should have left a couple of feet of trunk and yanked them out with a decent size digger, or you can winch them out with a heavy enough truck. Stump grinder would be my choice for what's left there.

only service i have ever dug up was an electric main encapsulated in the original concrete path... less than 50 deep, its still your fault apparently
if its for yourself or you have to do it manually otherwise id suggest a 1.5 -3 tonne machine, man enough for the job but not too big or intimidating.
As already suggested.. get a man in, you catch a service or touch an AC unit its already costing you several times the cost of getting an experienced operator.
additionally if this is employed or work you really need a suitable licence for the machine these days,
given that it looks very open to the pubic i wouldn't let an inexperienced operator any where near it

Imo maps are too inaccurate. Look inside the building for any evidence of incoming utilities, that would tell you so much more

Get them from the local utility provider if you have to, like Yorkshire water/Northern power grid/Northern gas networks or whoever it is in your neck of the woods. Usually have to pay

Service maps are a jealously guarded secret, best of luck finding any relevant material without paying through the nose.
