Anyway just attacked my forklift with a mag drill. Holes in both forks now.
My new trailer is a tad heavy to push !

I don't use the forklift for anything commercial thankfully.Have a bit of box that slips over a fork with the ball on the end is how I've made them in the past. Couple of ears behind the the heel of the fork for a pin to go through.
Saves having to drill holes in forks...hopefully your insurance inspection man will put his clipboard over them when he does his checks.![]()

If it's personal use then it's personal choice. If you fitted longer forks or fork extnensions in the workplace you'd have to have the load centres re-calculated but again if it's personal use you can use the wheels lifting off the floor as a load gauge if you like.I don't use the forklift for anything commercial thankfully.
Why would 2 small holes make a difference? I bet they will to an inspector but logically what is the harm right at the tip? I kept the slugs - could easily glue them back in
I did think of making something to slip over but this was so quick and easy - no need for tools to screw on or off - the ball provides plenty of grip.
I do want to change the forks at some stage - they are a bit short which can be a pain.
It should have had longer forks according to the manual - must have been swapped out. Not much longer just a bit. Our neighbour has extension forks I can borrow any time I want but they are a tad too narrow so mine only go 1/2 half way and get stuckIf it's personal use then it's personal choice. God I am slow tonight - very apt name for this topicAt work we have one bolted to a length of box section that slides over the fork and had a bolt that secures it by passing through a drilled hole behind the heel of the fork. Saves risking a fail at the periodic inspection.
EDIT: Hitch got there first.
Forum safety nazi.....Put a cable tie on it over that![]()
