Compensation was quite high.
So its this, the part I showed the picture of is sandwiched between those 2 big washers on the left of the shaft, as the hay is stuffed into the chamber it turns that big angry spiky wheel that turns the shaft and the roller im replacing, the arm above it is tight against the roller so as it turns it lifts the arm up, when it reaches a set point your bale is done, the problem is the friction between the roller and arm or lack of friction so hope fully this should sort us! every year I keep looking at it thinking of betters ways to do it but you need a field of hay to test the ideas!

Needs a 24V AC supply, so I haven't tested it yet. It looks like there's a hall effect sensor for feedback too which I might try to read. Not sure what I want it for, it's about a 1mm tubing so very little flow rate at presumably quite a high pressure. Its just more treasure for the pile now.![]()
And fewer people around that have any experience of them.It could be worse, that's a simple mechanism, if the knotters go wrong you're in a real level of pain.
