Anyone still selling standard cutting discs?

I've literally never had to buy any "standard" 115mm cutting discs. I was introduced to the thin 1mm "slitting" discs in my teens and that's all I've ever wanted and used.

Now I want a pack of old-school 2mm or 2.5mm thick cutting discs - for grooving welds preps and stuff. I had to ratch about in the workshop for an old one and now they're all gone.

I can't find them for sale anywhere online though! just the cheap horrible brands and I'm not having them.

I want something from Klingspor, Norton, Abracs etc. And I don't want to spend a fortune. A pack of 10 will last me another decade I'd think.

Last I got were Osborne and they are rubbish.
I use them for a bit of "precision" grinding and they are OK for that.
Next time I'm in the local welding shop I'll get more of the Pferd EHT115-2.4 which are a bit more expensive but excellent.

I'm the opposite, I think the fact they last ages makes them hopeless

I’ve a 9 inch one that must be 5 years old and I can’t wear it out.
In fairness after a few mins polishing I put a proper disc on and actually do the job.
Hard wearing thin ones are better though as it's very easy to apply the pressure required to expose new sharp aggeregate

As a matter of interest, does anyone take any notice of the disc use-by date?

I don't throw them out after the use-by date but I don't buy in bulk so that I end up with lots that are out of date.

I have some that are very old but they are OK because that don't have a use-by date.

They can de bond and then potentially explode if mine have dates for home use they are given away if out of date

You are OK if you are taking the risk. If you have an insurer who is taking the risk, they won’t!

Thanks. Mine may not be the prettiest of noggins but it is the only one I have and somehow, as I get older, I feel that I am less invincible.
