If stored correctly 3-5 years will not harm them, Im still using a couple of 2019 thin cutting discs.
I wouldnt take chances with 9" grinder discs.
They have a use by date?As a matter of interest, does anyone take any notice of the disc use-by date?
I don't throw them out after the use-by date but I don't buy in bulk so that I end up with lots that are out of date.
I have some that are very old but they are OK because that don't have a use-by date.

I treat all grinding and cutting discs as if they are going to explode at any second no matter what age or type they are. They delaminate and basically split apart
Spinning round a few rpm’s they shatter
Iv had a 9” go and it wasn’t a good day at work
There is that issue but it’s a risk you take,I treat all grinding and cutting discs as if they are going to explode at any second no matter what age or type they are.
I've had a few burst but it's always been down to abuse which I'm certain is a much bigger issue than stretching the use by date.
A badly stored newish disc (soaked in oil and left outside in the wet and sun) will be much more likely to burst than an old disc kept in its original packaging in a dry cupboard.
Treat them all with respect because you never know.
I'll have a look next time I have the angry grinder out
