I have a bandsaw 3 phase bandsaw, the motor has a mechanical brake on the back of it, but it stuck on while the motor was spinning so burnt out
removed it so I can keep using the bandsaw
now it takes a fair while to stop when it's turned off
can't find replacement parts for mechanical brake, so I'm thinking electrical brake instead
stops and starts are infrequent... I'm thinking why can't I just short the motor terminals when it's off to slow/stop it quicker? it shouldn't generate any more current than it's start up current?
I think it's 4hp but I'll have to double check
