Today I had to make 2 of these. Was emailed on Tuesday evening to see if I could do it Wednesday morning. I was supposed to be working away but agreed to go in and do them so the boat could get down the slip. Got in and was told they had managed to get someone else to make them and they would be arriving shortly, bit pee'd off seeing as I had postponed another job but it happens a lot
Anyway yesterday I get a phone call asking if I could make them as the ones they got didn't fit. Told them I couldn't do that day as I was busy working on the job I had cancelled the day before for them so it will be Saturday. Went in today and did them.

There is a real danger my new bike will arrive next week so I thought I had best set to and make a couple of wall anchors to secure it at the various places I want to park it, piece of chain through the tube and around the frame. Not foolproof but covered by CCTV also:

Yesterday I was working on a 737 fuselage (Death to all 737s!) that we chopped up to make into a temporary 'Diner' for a Stately Home. I had to trim down the Lav door from a 747 to fit the hole in a 737 bog unit. Strange smell from the wood/alloy door as I was cutting it. I hope everyone else had a more enjoyable day at work than me!

You have no idea how much fun I'd have if given the chance to chop up a jet, though I'd spend most of the time looking at the engineering of each part

Epoxy primer on tig welded 5356 connection wires, for anodising, to hopefully protect from the reaction. If its dry tomorrow I'll test with the small one first.

I avoid pipework as much as I can, but it's inevitable sometimes. So made myself a set of flange pins to suit smaller flanges that take M8 to M12 bolts. Need to make another set, for M16+ later, but they will be aluminium.

Finished off a gateway with a gate I was given that I extended by 1 hoop ,it wasn’t old and had been galvanised and painted,although I shall change it to my favourite Reseda green as the sample touched in on the closing stile,the post is a bitsa,cast and 1/2” thick,to make it long enough,I

had to make an insert.
The annoying wonky base,is caused by forgetting to sleeve up for 3”,so I had to add a split collar,then weld in place after concreting,applied galvafroid each side of ground level,but not sure if I’ll paint the post as I like the heavy pitting and the hedge will eventually cover it,we’ll see.

Made a mono-motor drive into a dual-motor drive.

Collaring the wheels on both sides to stop them wandering seems to keep the chain from slipping off in a brief bit of testing. I should probably make some sort of chain covers in case one sprog runs over the other...

Threw together a 15 minute jig, to make shepherd crooks for thé clients garden. Job I didn't really want, but thé woman kept hassling me, so I've made three exemples, and I've priced them so if she does want them, it's not a waste of my time.

So rubbish at quoting, me.

Iirc Matt,I think I charged £3.80 each for the last batch I bent,make about 100/year for a local shop,from 8mm.plus vat.how does that compare with currency conversion??

Made an extension to this frame to hold a new but bigger cyclone few weeks ago,got to erect it today,as you can see I’ve added several braces to the original lower frame, there’s still a slight wobble when pushed,I’m going to fit a support at the top,to the gable post of the adjoining saw shed.a tipping trailer collects the sawdust underneath.

Multiply that by five. The woman's done my head in, hassling me.

I was referred the job, she went to sculptural cast iron company who charge £90 an hour, they said 18 month waiting list, she went to my mate turner miller. He wasn't interested, sent her to me, I wasn't interested.

Here's my quote.

I'f she wants;

10 @ 17 euros a piece 170 euros. Profit 155

20 @ 15 euros a piece 300 euros. Profit 250

30 @ 13 euros a piece 390 euros. Profit 315

I have other things to do, don't want the job, woman introduced herself as ex head of a private girls school, two classic Morgans, chateau, bitch...

Hassles me weekly.

It's a 6 ton from a meter away and at maximum reach of around 30 foot it is rated at around 600kg I think
