£18 and a half grand ! For just cut to length self colour

And that was the cheapest price

It did make them keen to give the go ahead today when I told them it was going up another £300 a ton on Monday

That was the little job . We’ve just completed an 80 tonner and 30 tonner that I bought the steel for before Xmas. They would have been around £50k dearer this week and £80k next week. Crazy times

Be thankful you can get materials … we have had some stuff put back twice this month, 2 titanium billets booked in for machining early next month that I don’t think I am going to see this side of August.

As for anything with fpga …. From off the shelf to sometime in the next year if you pay us 50% of todays prices as deposit… price will be higher and we don’t know how much or when you will get it either

Its more about the decline of purchasing power as an average. Steel, wood and fuel may have rocketed but many products will have remained the same.The next quarter will be the one to watch.

Pre covid in a working week, we could get what we needed in 24 hours.

With the current volatility of steel prices you would have to be quite brave as a merchant to fill your boots with stock, I would have thought most are carrying minimum stock in case prices take a dive.

Our local stockist must constantly / currently have hundreds of thousands of pounds of steel in their shed.

Which can only have appreciated in price since they bought it.

2 rite copper prices are going up weekly so anyone with a large stock is in for a windfall

They don't do copper, but they do do steel.

Someone said alu to buy is 12 grand a ton, currently.

There's been component shortages going on for ages, try buying a Raspberry Pi for example.

A local kitchen showroom has an 18 month lead time on some appliances!
