MyHermese throwing fragile parcels on to the drive this morning.

I looked out of the window this morning and 2 items had been thrown on to the drive. Not only is the driver stupid, but also too lazy to put a card through-my mail box is on the outside of the gate.

One of the items an AC to 12v transformer which has electronic components inside, that I assume should not be thrown on to concrete. NO packing, just a thin box. Bent transformer case on one corner. I am not even going to try it, because it may pack up next week due to the above rough handling.

I have requested a prepaid shipping label from the seller to enable me to return it. Not my responsibility to go on the 'merry go round' trying to communicate with Hermese. I would have rather paid £3 postage and been happy for the seller to use R Mail-our guy is excellent. The e bay sellers don't always tell you the method of shipping. I will ask specifically before buying in future.

The other item-a COB led bulb is working ok, and fortunately had a bit of packing round it.

You can fix cateracts on eyes with lazer treatment , you can get breast implants, facelifts etc but you can't fix stupid!

I had a large microwave oven delivered from Currys on Tuesday.... by Yodel......

However, there was no problem, the guy carefully carried it up and placed it outside the back door, where I was stood just inside, waiting for the worst to happen.

It seems that nowadays "packed properly" means layers of padding and protection are required because we know and accept that from start to finish whatever's sent is going to be battered by morons too thick or lazy to treat other people's property with a little respect. So additional cost and waste with environmental impact to treat the symptom and not the problem.

Taking the OP's example, deduct the cost of the replacement item from the driver's wages and see how he treats parcels in future.

Yes Slim.. Not much point having 7ft high gates and leaving them unlocked all the time. Hence the idea of putting a card through mail box on the outside if I am not around.

You could say the seller and guy delivering are both to blame. But when has it been acceptable to throw a customer's items like it is trash?

i had 2 50 gallon drums delivered from my hermes there not even mine or my name on them tried ringing them but just a tracking number on the pc showing a picture of them outside my patio door still couldnt get a human to answer i collared one of them in the street and asked if he could ring or tell me where the depot is. dunno mate i just deliver . yea i said another brain dead . anyone want 2 no new barrels with clip on lids free gratice colect from teeside

Yes, if the package can't withstand being dropped from a height of 1m on to a hard surface without damage (that's a bare minimum) then the problem is with the packing, not the courier.

i got a hot air engine sent from china the cardboard box it came in was thin and it only had a bit of bubble wrap round it .the box was crumpled and the item pretty delicate and it survived. it only took 2 month to get it

Surely you don't need a card in a box outside the gates to see you've had a delivery......

As for the damage, it's unfortunate but looks like it may have been dropped at arms length, stretching through the 7ft high gate?

I feel your pain. Hermes are utterly useless.
I ordered a fair few bits for a job at the end of November last year, they firstly couldn't deliver as the driver was taken ill, then the next attempt couldn't find the address, third attempt apparently no one was in (Cctv confirmed they hadn't even been)
Then they lost the parcel in their warehouse.
So I had the items resent with a different courier and they came next day
Couple of days ago a Hermes driver turns up and gives me a battered torn box, I look at it, half the bits have fell out and gone some of them are smashed and yes it's what's left of the original order from November!
Changing the name ain't going to improve the quality of their service!

8 off 7ah batteries.. yes they originally had the plastic tab covers, (that fall off) but in a box with nothing other that a bit of brown paper....
how they didnt set fire to the van i dont know

Yes, if the package can't withstand being dropped from a height of 1m on to a hard surface without damage (that's a bare minimum) then the problem is with the packing, not the courier.

Not only that, it's going in a van with 96 other parcels being packed on top of it, you need load bearing packaging.
