Get another clock?I tried going to bed an hour earlier, but after two weeks I couldn't take it any more. I just couldn't get my head around going to bed at ten in the morning!

I think they're charging more on the unit price though? Seems to be swings & roundabouts with suppliers now.
I like how the land is being used for multipurposes. They can be mounted off the ground so sheep etc and wander underneath![]()
Not true if he grows Pine. You cant eat trees…….on-a serious note your probably looking at 30 years to harvest your trees for wood. Then a year or more to dry it out.
Sadly wood powered steam through even a watertube boiler is going to be a grossly inefficient way to make your ziggies.
What purpose are you using it for? Surely not heating?I have just paid £50 for a 13kg Calor bottle refill

Ouch! I'm just looking at a receipt for the equivalent Flo Gas propane bottle bought last week for my BBQ and it was 36 quid dead.I have just paid £50 for a 13kg Calor bottle refill

You’d of thought I was burning printer ink if anything …… we’ve got 500 left so we are okay as we’ve burnt 3 cube of wood through winter .**Language** me, are you burning extra virgin olive oil?
We've just had 1500 liters delivered at 65p a liter. My wife had ordered it 2 weeks ago before Pootin kicked off though.
Put the clock forward an hour every day but go to bed by a different clock? Sounds like a plan!Get another clock?
Aye but they will buy from someone cheaper and then he gets nothing.I find it rather ironic that a mate who covered his roof in PV when the FiT rate was at it's highest and gets I think just < 55p a unit, now sees that eaten into.
He is after all a generator. I think he should be able to increase his standing charge and unit rate. It's only fair...
I feel that Blobber is on to something here with the idea of creating a wood.Weve about 12 acres here, I think im going to cover the lot with fast growing trees for firewood and wait for pressbrakes steam powered generator hes going to build!
Get back to us Edward, we all need to be doing and sharing everything that may be of help.I had a wickedly, sharp, jabbing pain in my a*****le yesterday morning,
And funnily enough
It was just after I opened my new, from April, gas an electric tariff, from British Gas
From an estimated £2400 to £3550 per year
Does it really make that much difference, switching everything off,
It should, the electric is not being used.
I'll have to do some testing, to see what electrical savings can be had,
Its not something I have ever worried about,
'That's just how it is',
Better late than never,
Time will tell.
What purpose are you using it for? Surely not heating?
Only for the welfare unit, its double what I have been paying for the forklift gas. That too has probably doubled.

You cant eat the trees but in and around trees live lots of wildlife! we can get a good harvest of willow in 3 to 4 years and there is a load of other old poorly maintained trees that need removing so were well on the way!You cant eat trees…….on-a serious note your probably looking at 30 years to harvest your trees for wood. I think this might be an option, certainly not all pine but Im going to have a look around for prices!I feel that Blobber is on to something here with the idea of creating a wood.
Filling it with fast growing pine trees could have an additional benefit beyond growing firewood.
Whenever I visit a DIY shop for timber, it is always pine .There is a massive demand for pine timber. Whether it is a few pieces of 4x2, new joists for the flooring, or timber roof trusses and other aspects used in the construction industries.
Imagine the area full of mature trees, and an outbuilding closeby with a sawmill inside. If you just consider the four sides that are cut from each tree that results in a large oblong shaped log worth £££s. Even the four side off-cutts from each tree would provide lots of 'wood fuel'. Not just for himself, but a decent amount sold on at a profit, plus all the thick branches chopped in to logs.
If the trees are cut down near to the ground (coppicing) they will regrow again. What's not to like?

Energy never really disappears it just changes form.
Fitting storage batteries seems to be the current sound bite in the face of leccy prices and then charge from PV. Great idea and maybe there's some monetary concessions for early adopters.
At the end of the day, if we're still reliant on China for the PV panels and the raw materials for the batteries, then the day will come when they too can hold us to ransom.
