You know when something starts hurting and you are frightened/scared you are gonna die.

When this starts - you get to the point you are frightened/scared you are not gonna die.

Tablets do work - but it takes a week or two for them to get into your system - then after a while you get used to them - then you need some differing more toxic ones to work and get relief.

I am in year four of this - I have had two brain scans to find the cause. I have a blood vessel pushing on my cranial nerve. Brain surgery will be too risky while I can control this with drugs.

My GP/specialist is OK - but getting repeat prescriptions for maximum doses of controlled drugs is not easy - I have been messed about by so many chemists - I have ended up running out of tablets and then need to start a two or three week pain hell period for the tablets to start to work again. I am a bit fed up with phamacists talking/treating to me like a "drug addict". It has reached the point - I now take a letter from a hospital specialist to show the pharmacist - to save the embarrassment when being questioned. Plus another issue is - the drugs are odd and they never have stock - which causes me to run out sometimes. I have ended up using the hospital pharmacy on occasions which is not easy I can tell you - walking in off the street with a prescription from your GP for enough controlled drugs for a party.

This condition is more prevalent in older ladies who normally get it mildly in one side of their face. I am a bloke in his early fifties and get it severely in both sides.

I think he/she was just chilling out and letting the food settle after cleaning out all of the bird feeders in the neighborhood and then raiding another neighbor's beehive for dessert. One of the bears removed our suet feeder from the stand, and I found it later in the woods by the house, carefully opened and emptied, with no damage to the wire suet cage. I think they're pretty smart.

Black bears might be less aggressive than some other bear species, but I still would not want to irritate them. When I go out in the yard at night, I like to scan the area with a flashlight (torch) to avoid any close encounter...not just with a bear, but with skunks or other critters. As a nod to the subject of this thread, I generally don't lose any sleep over the wild animals in the neighborhood, although raccoons can be a real PITA. That said, I suppose that if I had a small pet like a cat or a tiny fluffy dog, it might worry me, as they might resemble lunch to a coyote, fisher, bald eagle, etc.

Also sleep related, I have heard that viewing bright light (especially blue light) shortly before bedtime can be detrimental to sleep. There should be quite a bit of information about this on the Internet.

I'll see if I can get Gary's trail cam pictures of a couple of raccoons attempting to get into the owl box he put high up on a post. Well, he reckons they were trying to get the owls, more like they'd shinned up there to escape the cougars!

Hello, stick to one independent pharmacy. Get to know the pharmacist. Keep them informed.
It is no problem ordering them in, but they don't want to be lumbered with them.
We used to keep 12 x 28 Dexedrine for one particular patient. Then he moved without telling us. £300 down the drain. Plus we had to store them in the CD cabinet until they went out of date (nearly four years), then get someone one to witness their destruction.
I never treated any of my addicts any differently to any other customer, as Principle Officer Mr MacKay from Porridge said, "I treat then all with equal contempt".

Good advice! Untill this affliction arrived - I have never been to chemist more than a few times in my whole life.

Staff turnover is so high in the chemist I use - it is never the same people behind the counter.

Another problem is: At times of reprieve from symptoms - I stop taking the tablets. I do not want to be cashing high value prescriptions or stock pilling controlled drugs at home. The most medication I want in hand at anytime is for a month's supply. But I have problems getting a prescription and getting the stuff ordered in/dispensed - in a four week period sometimes.

Another issue is - my GP keeps prescribing differing drugs - as the ones I use stop working. Every new prescription has more bizare and rare stuff on it (which I assume is more costly). Which as you explain causes ordering in and non stock - cost problems for the chemist.

Footnote: My Mother who is still alive - was a dispensing chemist - in 1951 she went and trained at Apothecaries Hall in London. She was at the time the only girl in her year of training - it was just after the war and Pharmacy was a "mans job" - how things have changed.

The wife and I are usually in bed around ten; we sleep separately; she could snore the horn off a rhino but to be fair she has been seriously ill for several months.
If I wake during the night, sometimes I might use the loo, sometimes not, sometimes a dream; I just can't go back to sleep. Mind starts worrying about all sorts of stuff. There's plenty to worry about.
I put the light on and have a read, maybe an hour, maybe one and a half; if I can't drop off then I'll get up. Watching TV takes my mind off whatever it was worrying itself about. Sometimes I'll make a loaf of bread or a cake.
Generally no earlier than 3.45 a.m. and never later than 6.00 a.m.
Hard not to drop off during the daytime, we're in isolation due to the wife's health issues and she usually has a couple of hours on a day bed, she might doze, or just rest her eyes. I can't really leave her for long, so there's little 'shed time' distraction.
I hate sleeping in a chair but sometimes one's just so tired it's inevitable, then generally feel terrible if I'm woken.
My late mother said old age doesn't come by itself and she certainly called that right.

I have no problem falling asleep. Five minutes and I am gone. Staying asleep is the problem. Possibly from having had bad carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands where you wake up 3-4am convinced somebody is using your hands as firelighters. Had that operated on 10 years ago but still normally wake up in that kind of time zone.

This morning is different. Sounds like all the snoring lessons I’ve given the wife are paying dividends for her…

I did that, twice. I is a slow learner. The snag was the first one has the attention span of a gnat and would listen raptly to all the flattery. I have had great fortune with the second and she is a definite keeper. Even puts up with my insomnia!
