I fixed a sewing machine. Well, I say fixed. I took the bobbin cover off. ( 90 degree screwdriver ground down to fit). The amount of lint and crap in there had seized it up. all clean now and put back together. Partner is now rethreading it. If that doesn't work. Guess I'll be posting again.

Making an Apple Sponge. Clouds of smoke from the venerable Kenwwod Chef that my Grandmother bought new back when Britain made things to last. Capacitor seems to be the weak point, according to the internet, with them lasting only about 50 years of regular use. Replaced with a kit from Ebay.

A bit bigger than a keyword chef presumably?
I found a big planetary mixer in a skip once, bowl must be at least 20 litres. At the time I was regularly making pizza dough for 15+ people, way more than my Kitchenaid could fit at once, so it actually would have been quite handy, but I literally could not pull it out, the thing was so bloody heavy.
I kept the bowl though, it makes a nice wobbly bucket.

Not today, but Yesterday.
This 1950/60's Green house heater came my way the other day. I recall my Grandfather having a Brass tank one. This one is steel.
An annoying issues. Not well shown here and very hard to get an image.
The Loower brass part, were the wick gear is housed has cracked. This means as the fuel is drawn up the wick it leaks out. As it leaks out it pulles moire fuel up. So the flame goes out..
Being brass it was a pain to solder, But I did manage it.
Cleaned teh crack up with a needle file and cleaned it well with a solvent. Then heating the crack from the under side feed in fine solder.
Finished. I had to ease the clip into shape, so it holds.
The plan for it?
I have some lamp oil, that is meant to repell bugs in the summer. I will be giving that a go.

A Nice 90% complete Svea travling stove.
A simple, peacfull restoration.
The first issue to address was the simple solder of the cap retaining threaded part onto the body. The part to be soldered is RHS on top of the tin.
Done.
The pump is in bits as the washer was soaking in veg oil.
So we should be good to go for a burn.

This image is normal for the start up. It just shows the vaperizer is not up tp temperature.
But There was further issues. The joint on the filler was weeping. The non return valve in the pump was leaking,
The joint was sweeted back and it sealed.
The non return valve was seized, so I had to remove the pump body. Strip the non return valve, new spring, new seal.
Plus I fitted a new jet, for the simple reason I had one.
So much work on a little thing.
There are 3 legs under the body, they are now free to move.
I even blackened the spanner. The tin is ealed with bee's wax. After dipping the tin into warm citric acid, long enough toconvert the rust to black oxide.
Washed with warm water and dried well over a low heat. When it was still warm the wax is worked in.
Brew Time.
Rat pack coffee. Blue top milk.

This tired looking box contains an in line voltmeter.
A quick test showed it was working, but over reading.
The instructions tells you to remove the meter from the case.
Connect to a 500v supply and adjust to "pots" for a correct reading.
Not a fun or safe thing to be doing.
Removing the muck and grime showed this bit of writing. The meant a full strip of the old french polish could no go ahead. As it will remove the hsitory.
Wire wool, meths and elbow grease had the grime off. Here you can see it drying of. The stove is not lit.
The extra paint staines will be removed with a cabinet scraper.
Saved as much as I could, 5 coats of "white French Polish" and 2 of brown.
The adjusting feet were removed and freed.

Yesterday work meant I had 10 projects on the go at the same time.
Plus I dismantled a washing machine.

I got this old camera the other day. I knew it was stuck in the closed postion.
Now this is not a unknown issue with cameras such as this.
Now there are lots of information out there on how to free them. But I found that yes, they are helpfull. But it is rare to find anything on the camera you are playing with.
This was a pain.
Step one was to clean the runners and lubicate it with a wax.
In the end I had to disamantle most of the front end.
To find out that the auto tip. The means to flip the frame up when the case is closed was broken, worse some one had, in the past had tried to fix it.
This meant It could not be fixed, with out new parts.
This one is a 1930's bakealite camera, It was in good condition, just needed a clean.
The belows are now light tight, small repair with rubber glue.
Both on display.
A friend may be helping me with a 120 film to digital. But we will see.

It is not a Greenhouse heater.
It is a 1920/30's car sump heater..
