That's interesting. When my garage door was fitted, the installer adjusted the slats to touch the threshold with a little slack so several seemed to stack. I suppose having extra slats would be a solution in some cases, but I would think the lead on the feed channel would need to be widened, to prevent possible jams ?My roller shutter continues to rotate a little after it hits the ground - that pushed the upper slats that aren't in the guide forward, sealing against the front plate. No idea if thats intended or not, but its worked for the last long time . ..

The first few slats stay in the guides, so they bring the rest in after them - it's only they hit the ground, all the slack is taken up, and the two two or three get shoved forward a touch, as they aren't yet in the guide. and of course, when opening, they just pull up and out as usual. It doesn't seem to have damaged anything so far . . .That's interesting. There is not a roll eyes emoji unfortunately. I have that conversation a lot. Quite often it’s time to actually diagnose the dead part also that people don’t like to factor in when they start moaning4 days work to change this fwd-rev syncroniser in a same tractor. The farmer said. How did it take 4 days to fit such a small part.View attachment 321069View attachment 321070

They were competer but some one had a bad attempt in re-wiring them.

Both had holes in the base. One for the cable, the other for a push switch.

So, ripped it out, so I could start again.
But first to clean them up.

This shows as many of then dents I could not remove. As the brass had streched to much.
It also does not show the joints I had to re seal with lead solder.

I would be interested in purchasing them as they are.A very good question. One I will plan to answer as soon as I know what I will be doing with them.
But since I took the image, the Starboard lantern as developed a fault.
It pops the breaker afet 5 to 10 minutes of use. Using a Meggarshoews a 1.3Mohm leak to earth through the positive terminal. The Port(larboard) has a 999.99MOhm, I think I will be getting new fixings.
I’ve use to just flip them over on Chevy’s.An old school repair today.
Neighbours tractor starter motor was smoking when trying to crank.
This might be why.

New cap fitted, solenoid adjustment checked, and it mostly works.
It's still a bit reluctant to spin at times and grinds a bit, but the brushes/armature looked perfect, so I'm not entirely sure why.
It always cranks the engine, even if it takes a second or so to stop grinding and it's not a lack of engagement kind of grinding
If it stops working, I'll strip it down more for a proper look.

Yeah, square seats on the contacts. Turn them 180* and you have a new solenoid.I’ve use to just flip them over on Chevy’s.
